Summer love The Orangery at Margam Country Park was the elegant backdrop for Ffion and Rob’s wedding, decorated with summery pastel shades Images courtesy of Honeydew Moments Ffion and Rob met when she was a customer at the place where he worked. “I was instantly taken aback by how beautiful she was, Rob tells us. “We soon realised we were in the same student Facebook group, and when we started university, we became a couple.” Rob proposed during a holiday in Budapest for Ffion’s birthday. “We had been together for a year and a half and were both still at university, but I knew she was the one,” Rob says. “We visited Hungary’s Fisherman’s Bastion during our holiday, and after a steep walk to reach the top, I found a private nook tucked away from the crowds, and asked her to marry me. I was overwhelmed by nerves, and a smile so wide beamed across her face!” Ffion’s sister was a guest at a wedding held at The Orangery at Margam Country Park, and told the couple how beautiful it was, so they chose this venue for their own special day. “The lighting during the summer months, the building and the grounds all looked stunning - we left after our first viewing with a date booked in,” they tell us. Ffion and Rob decorated their June wedding with summery pastel colours. “We visited the venue for a wedding showcase, and Ffion saw an arrangement made by ELYN Boutique and fell in love with it,” Rob explains. “She wanted exactly what she saw for our own wedding. We tied in the beautiful floral arrangements with lilac chair sashes, pastel floral centrepieces and a large floral archway as the backdrop for our vows.” Rob’s sister married them, a special moment for them. “Watching Ffion walk down the aisle was a memory I’ll never forget,” Rob tells us. “The pianist we hired created custom arrangements of some of our favourite songs, which included Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love and Accidentally in Love from the film Shrek 2 that we walked down the aisle to.” The talented team at the venue did the catering for the couple’s special day. “Our guests enjoyed a seated three-course meal and a charcuterie buffet during the evening,” Rob says. “Bottles of wine were provided for each table, and the drinks kept flowing at the bar as the night went on. We also had a sweetie cart and popcorn machine.” Ffion chose a beautiful fairytale-inspired ballgown with a sweetheart bodice and an A-line skirt. “I felt like a princess as soon as I tried it on,” she tells us. She changed into a shorter dress for the evening party. “I loved seeing Ffion’s change of wedding dress, which she wore during our iconic champagne spray!” Rob adds. Rob wore a smart forest green-coloured suit, and his groomsmen wore matching mint green suits. “Our beautiful bridesmaids wore pastel lilac dresses with a pretty floral print,” Ffion says. The couple entertained their guests with a photo booth, a phone booth to capture video messages, a children’s playroom and a light-up dancefloor with a DJ to get everybody up and dancing. “Our first dance was a memorable moment for me,” Rob tells us.
