Your Somerset, Glos & Wilts Wedding - June/July 2025 (Issue 107)

I have a full bust. What styles will suit me and how can I get the right support? If you’re blessed with a full bust one of the woes you might experience is the sheer weight. Are we right ladies? This being the case, we highly recommend something either with functional straps (as opposed to spaghetti, purely there for aesthetics) or plenty of structure to provide support. After all, constantly yanking up the front all day long will only distract you from enjoying your wedding to the max. Comfort and confidence are the absolute key considerations for you here. I don’t think a white or ivory dress is for me. What are my options? How exciting – we’ve got you! Now more than ever there’s a wide range of colour choices when it comes to wedding gowns. If you’d like to keep classic white as your foundation, look out for gowns with jawdropping embroidered floral embellishments. Claire Pettibone has an extraordinary range of dresses in this vein that’s well worth checking out if this appeals. Maggie Sottero too has some beautiful, ethereal gowns in both embroidered and elegant jacquard fabrics. We love Ines di Santo, which boasts a collection of truly fashion forward looks your guests won’t forget in a hurry. Jaws will most definitely hit the floor as you make your grand entrance! Alternatively, many designs have a top layer of organza, tulle or lace over a coloured underlayer of blush, champagne, or mocha for example. Essense of Australia is a great go-to for this style, and again Maggie Sottero offers a choice of colourways on many of its gowns. You’ll be surprised how choosing the right colourway, warm or cool, will make such a difference to how it looks on your body when you choose the right undertone to complement your skin. You’re right, white isn’t for everybody. I’m getting married in July and given the soaring summer temperatures in recent years, I’m worried about overheating in my gown. What should I bear in mind when dress shopping? Nikki Gill from Fairytale Occasions (www. fairytaleoccasions. co.uk) in Highworth, Wiltshire, says, “Although it’s very hard not to be tempted to avoid certain fabrics if you’re getting married in July, really, it ultimately comes down to what you feel comfortable and the most amazing in. The beauty of many of our dresses is that they’re made in very light fabrics with under layers being in simple lining fabrics rather than the traditional satin underskirts. They all hold their own without having to add extra layers of petticoats, however some will work with a simple hoop if you just want that extra breeze and freedom around your legs. If I had to pick a favourite dress from the boutique, it would be Isaura right now. It’s such a fun gown made in matte satin with off-the-shoulder straps. The pleating on the bodice gives an amazing shape which flows into the mini skirt. We’ve been teaming it with the Jesslyn skirt to create that full gown for the ceremony, which can then be removed leaving the fun mini for the evening. It works so well with some amazing statement shoes or if you’re into Yellowstone then some fantastic cowboy boots!” I’ve fallen in love with the silhouette of a gown but it’s a bit plainer than I had in mind. Is there anything I can do to bring it in line with my vision? Fear not, your local bridal boutique will be able to help with this and make some extraordinary suggestions. Many have their own in-house seamstresses who can jump straight on the case working with you to create your bespoke www.morilee.com https://inesdisanto.com https://inesdisanto.com www.fairytaleoccasions.co.uk Karolina Grabowska on Unsplash 48
