Your North West Wedding - February/March 2024 (Issue 84)

For our centrepieces, we chose eucalyptus and candles. I added white petals, but we didn’t really want to put too much on the tables as the venue was beautiful enough! A family friend had told us about the café at Samlesbury Hall and how beautiful it was, so we decided to go see what it was like. It was everything that we wanted. Being big walkers, we are always attracted to the woodland style and the venue’s size and private garden were just perfect for us. When we contacted them about having a small wedding there, they actually had another wedding happening in the main hall. They wouldn’t normally arrange another event, but when we explained our situation, the staff were so understanding and supportive, making sure everything went perfectly. Our flowers were green and white, with a mix of wild blooms and orchids. I knew nothing about flowers, but I explained the theme to our florist, Call Me Flower, and they did an amazing job. My lovely cook at work made a cake for us; sadly, it didn’t travel well, so she had to quickly repair and change it, but it still tasted delicious! My mother had recently been diagnosed with stage three-four pancreatic cancer, so once we got back from Paris, we made the decision to get married quick and have a small ceremony as we wanted my mother to be there. 28
