The hall was built in the 1790s by Sir John Legard, then more than doubled in size with a Victorian extension when it was turned into a hotel in 1892. There are 36 bedrooms, 29 of which retain their original architecture, so every room is different. The original Boathouse is a luxuriously private and indulgent getaway. The open-plan suite in the lakeland stone building is bordered by a large terrace edging the lake and includes a private hot tub and firepit to enhance the outdoor vibe and complement the facilities inside. These are complemented by the six contemporary Lakeside Suites which sit in woodland between the Boathouse and main house, facing west over the lake.
