It can seat 80 guests in traditional pews and chairs, and an extra 20 can be accommodated for larger ceremonies. The State Drawing Room is a stunning setting to hold civil ceremonies, with space to seat up to 70 loved ones. For smaller services, the Bishops Study offers a warm and intimate setting with space for up to 30 nearest and dearest. Alternatively, those who want to get married outside in the walled enclave of the Pettinger’s Garden, with views of Helvelyn in the distance, can do so with up to 50 friends and family. The small family-run venue is full of rustic charm, from the giant chandeliers and exposed stone walls to the limestone flagged floor and vaulted ceiling. Outside there are expansive views, a hand-thatched gazebo and landscaped grounds. There’s also a new Couples Lounge with a suspended green lighting canopy and wall of mirrors. This room has a boho, relaxed vibe and is available exclusively throughout the day. Celebrate in style The Main Barn is used for ceremonies followed by a drinks reception in the adjoining reception/bar area, which has wooden vaulted ceilings, stone-flagged flooring and cosy seating areas. The bespoke bar is hand-crafted from oak, and above it hangs a floral canopy. There’s also a new food preparation area, luxury toilet facilities and underfloor heating throughout. It can seat up to 144 day guests on rustic wooden trestle tables, 136 on round versions and 200 for the evening celebration. Outdoor ceremonies take place under the hand-crafted pergola with a breathtaking scenic backdrop.
