ASKHAM HALL AND BANK BARN, CA10 2PF 01931 712 350 | www.askhamhall.co.uk Askham Hall is a late 12th century Grade I listed castellated Pele Tower building. The main house was extended in the 1400s with various annexes, and again in the 16th and 17th centuries when it was transformed into a grand Elizabethan mansion. Bank Barn is one of the largest vernacular Cumbrian bank barns ever built. The terraced gardens are Grade II listed and full of stunning features, including colourful terraces, a 230ft long double herbaceous border, unusual species of plants, formal lawns, kitchen gardens, woodland, meadows and ponds. Inside, the property combines modern furnishings and fresh décor with the charm and character of this historic house. Featuring a stunning barn, outdoor pavilion, Michelin starred restaurant, 19 bedrooms, terraced gardens and an outdoor heated pool. Celebrate in style The largest wedding space is the charming Grade II listed Bank Barn, which has been sympathetically converted into a first class wedding venue. With original features, bare stone walls, an open-beamed oak ceiling, contemporary lighting, an oak dancefloor and large glass doors, this really is a special setting for celebrations. The Medieval Hall is a slightly smaller space within the courtyard of the main house on the first floor with a capacity for up to 70 friends and family. It connects directly to the bedrooms and dates back to the 1400s with original oak beams and two large fireplaces. Smaller ceremonies take place in the main house on weekdays, including in the original oak-panelled Dining Room, which seats up to 18 loved ones. Alternatively, the Outdoor Garden Pavilion is also licensed for ceremonies, weather dependent, for up to 150 people. We love... Couples will receive a voucher to try food at the sister pub, the George and Dragon Clifton, which uses the same ingredients and has a similar cooking ethos. The venue also offers a complimentary night’s stay for couples in return for the use of their wedding imagery. LINDETH HOWE HOTEL, LA23 3JF 01539 445 759 | www.lindeth-howe.co.uk Originally owned by Beatrix Potter, Lindeth Howe Hotel is a traditional country house situated in six acres of stunning countryside. The owners have invested £1million and combined the original decor with modern amenities to create a grand venue that’s perfect for weddings. The property has a private drive, free parking for guests, outdoor seating and space for a grand fireworks display. Celebrate in style The largest space available is the Restaurant which can hold 120 people. Couples can walk down the red carpet and admire the beautiful magnolia tree that’s visible through the windows. Boasting a large apex roof, the Hilltop Room has art on the walls, large hanging plants and room for 40 guests for the service. The Morning Room is where Mrs Potter used to sit and wait for her daughter, Beatrix, to arrive for tea. The last space available is the Sitting Room. Boasting garden views, a fireplace from the original house and a bay window where Beatrix used to sketch, it’s capable of holding 16 friends and family for the vows. We love...
