Anesha Baxter, founder of Anesha’s Art of Cakes, has been creating breathtaking wedding cakes for more than a decade, but her journey began in optometry. Her passion emerged while baking birthday cakes for her children, inspiring a career shift into cake artistry. Drawing from her multicultural background and life as a mother to neurodivergent children, Anesha crafts cakes that celebrate individuality, blending bold global flavours with classic British wedding traditions. The company specialises in bespoke, handcrafted-iced wedding cakes adorned with sugar flowers and cocoa butter-painted details. Each design tells a unique love story, and Anesha takes only one commission per week to ensure full creative focus. Flavours are as vital as aesthetics in her work. Her menu features vibrant combinations like Trinidadian black fruit cake as well as passionfruit, mango and coconut or chocolate and tonka bean, all made entirely from scratch with premium ingredients. Creativity, authenticity and sustainability guide Anesha’s process. She sources responsibly and views wedding cakes as more than desserts, they’re edible memories. Personalisation is key, often incorporating cultural roots, wedding attire, or shared experiences into the design. Anesha encourages couples to choose cakes that reflect who they are, prioritising flavour alongside design. Set within 17 acres of tranquil countryside, the historic castle blends timeless grandeur with the charm and warmth of a country house. Surrounded by breathtaking views and steeped in heritage, it offers a quintessentially British wedding experience. The formal gardens at Rowton Castle were recently redesigned by garden designer Susan Dunstall, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. Soft pink and white David Austin roses, fragrant lavender, hydrangeas, and neatly clipped topiaries now frame the Linden Belvedere, a stunning outdoor ceremony space. Groundsman Steve Parke, part of the team for more than 20 years, worked alongside Dunstall to ensure the gardens remained true to the castle’s historic character. Beyond the formal gardens, the estate features woodland walks, hidden pools, and a Victorian-walled garden rich in seasonal charm. This serene space, complete with apple and pear trees, provides a pictureperfect setting for photography, especially when the garden’s intricate quadrant design comes into view. Rowton Castle offers more than just a beautiful venue – it delivers an experience rooted in elegance, tranquillity, and exceptional service. The estate’s layout has remained largely unchanged for more than a century, preserving its authentic character. While primarily reserved for weddings, Rowton Castle occasionally offers overnight stays, allowing guests a rare opportunity to enjoy its hospitality in full. JUNGLE DISCO Chris and Lianne’s showstopping wedding featured disco balls and a neon pink colour scheme Images courtesy of Mark Horton Photos 24
Chris and Lianne had crossed paths years ago in Ibiza, where their mutual friends had first introduced them. Chris stayed close with Lianne’s best friend, who eventually let her know that Chris had moved to London. He suggested they reach out and meet, and when they did, it was like magic – they hit it off immediately and became inseparable from that moment on. Their first ‘proper’ date was a playful adventure in a ball pit filled with colourful balls and plenty of cocktails. Lianne was instantly drawn to Chris’s fun-loving spirit and his kindness. He had a way of making her feel at ease, wrapping her in a sense of safety and security that was hard to come by. With his handsome looks and shared interests, they quickly found a deep connection. Fast forward to a memorable anniversary, when Chris planned a surprise proposal at a charming duck pond while Lianne’s daughter was feeding the ducks. He had pretended to go to work earlier that day, only to surprise Lianne with balloons and a plan for lunch. Little did she know, she would soon be caught off guard again. After lunch, Lianne insisted on viewing a property for a second vewing, and they ended up putting in an offer that was accepted the next day! After that whirlwind, Chris suggested a quick stop at the pond to feed the ducks – a sweet nod to their earlier visit – and proposed. Lianne thought he was joking until she caught sight of the stunning ring he had hidden away. Their lives were about to change forever! They hurried off to pick up Lianne’s son from school, celebrating their engagement as a blended family at Pizza Express, the restaurant the kids had picked. It was serendipitous that they had gotten together on March 14th, Chris proposed on March 14th, and they tied the knot on March 14th. It seemed like fate had a special plan for them, weaving their love story into a beautiful tapestry of shared dates and cherished moments. SETTING THE SCENE The couple’s goal was simple: they wanted everyone to have fun and celebrate in a way that was unapologetically true to themselves. They started by focusing on what mattered most to them and then planned everything around those priorities. For them, it all revolved around music and photography, elements that truly captured their essence and joy. Lianne stumbled upon the Shack Revolution on her work Instagram, and she and Chris found themselves diving deep into a venue-hunting rabbit hole. No matter how many places they explored, they kept circling back to the Shack. Coincidentally, they were heading to Worcester – Chris’s hometown – for a friend’s 40th birthday, and it just so happened that an open day at the venue was taking place at the same time. The moment they set foot inside, their love for the venue only grew stronger. They couldn’t get enough of the textures, the spaciousness, the natural light, and the overall freedom to create the day they envisioned. Plus, the staff was incredibly welcoming. With a great price on top of everything, they took it as a sign when they found out that March 14th was the only date available that month, and they quickly booked it. As they planned their special day, the decorative touches reflected their vibrant theme and personality. For favours, they opted for mini tequila rose shots adorned with their neon pink stickers, paired with love heart sunglasses featuring neon pink vinyl that read ‘C & L 14/03/2025’. Interestingly, they decided against a table plan, aiming for a relaxed and social atmosphere that encouraged guests to mingle. This decision turned out to be a hit. The centrepieces were a blend of candles, mini disco balls, and faux succulents. With family-style catering on the menu, they kept the tables less cluttered to make space for all the delicious food. When it came to flowers, the couple chose a mix of artificial and real plants, leaning more toward greenery than blooms. Lianne’s sister-in-law crafted the bouquets and buttonholes, even incorporating disco balls into the arrangements. They brought in plants from home and decorated their sweetheart table with an arch covered in foliage and disco balls, complemented by a striking black and pink banner. The cake was a showstopper – a black heart adorned with disco balls and neon pink buttercream icing, featuring the words ‘Till Death’ in neon pink. A talented family friend gifted it to them, and it was simply fabulous. Since they wanted a laid-back vibe, there were no place names or table numbers; guests could pick their own seats. As for additional venue décor, Lianne 25 REAL WEDDINGS
created a stunning disco ball mirror that served as a welcome sign and later as a marker by the giant spinning teacup. They also crafted a black prosecco ladder, adding foliage and more disco balls for that extra flair. The venue was adorned with multiple disco balls hanging from the ceiling and scattered on the floor, along with neon signs in pink and white that read ‘Till Death Do Us Party.’ The Shack even made a lightbox sign in black and neon pink that said, ‘Chrisyyy and Badgeyyy’, the couple’s nicknames. Each detail of their celebration came together beautifully, reflecting their fun-loving spirit and making for an unforgettable day. For accomadation, the Green Dragon Hereford Hotel just a quick fiveminute walk from the venue. The groomsmen and guests took a leisurely stroll, soaking in the excitement. Meanwhile, the groom’s step-dad made a grand gesture by adorning his Jaguar with ribbons and serving as the chauffeur for an intimate group that included the groom’s dad, bridesman, daughter, and mum. When it came to catering, the couple had fun with their choices. Guests munched on antipasto cones featuring black and neon pink stickers as delightful canapés. For the wedding breakfast, the menu was a hit, highlighted by steak paired with truffle mash, peach and burrata salad, and roasted veggies. The pescatarian option was a luxurious lobster served with the same delectable sides, while vegetarians enjoyed a comforting butternut squash Wellington. They chose to serve the meal family-style, encouraging everyone to mix and mingle, which created a warm and relaxed atmosphere. As the night wore on, the couple kept the fun going with a quirky evening food offering: pot noodle towers paired with Coronas, a playful nod to their favourite hangover cure. Guests could enjoy them that night or save them for the next day. To top it all off, there was an array of cake and giant marshmallows that could be roasted over fire pits, adding a cosy and festive touch to the celebration. LOOKING THE PART Lianne had a wedding day that perfectly reflected her unique style and personality. She chose the Elysee Zephyne dress from Surrey Brides by Enzoani, initially visiting the bridal shop just to get it out of the way since she was convinced she’d opt for something short. But once she slipped into that dress, it was love at first sight. To complete her look, she accessorised with striking hot pink Jimmy Choo platforms, a front veil, her mother’s wedding headpiece, and a short veil adorned with a delicate pearl trim. Her earrings were playful pieces from ASOS, and she finished it all off with a bold pink lip from Mac. She comments, “I felt like me but in HD thanks to the gorgeous look from my make-up artist plus friend. I felt very much the bride but with my own spin. I didn’t actually get a full look at myself as I surprised my best friend on the day by asking if he’d be my bridesman and then got ushered to the car. But I felt confident and was so overwhelmed with happiness and confidence.” Chris rocked a black leopard print blazer from Philip Plein, paired with a sleek black shirt and velvet trousers. He added a fun twist with neon pink socks and classic Dr. Martens, looking effortlessly cool and perfectly onbrand for their style. Lianne thought he looked absolutely hot! The couple opted for a more intimate celebration, encouraging guests to wear whatever made them feel comfortable. Their daughter chose a vibrant neon pink dress complemented by mini pink heels and sparkling glitter eyes, while their son donned a navy suit with a quirky leopard print shirt and matching leopard print Jordans. Lianne’s bridesman, who was taken by surprise that day, looked dapper in a pink twisted tailor suit that beautifully matched their colour scheme. Lianne’s mother made a statement in a neon pink off-the-shoulder dress, complete with eye-catching neon orange feather shoes and a coordinating orange and pink fascinator. As the ceremony unfolded, the kids led the way down the aisle, followed by Lianne’s bridesman and her mum. Finally, Lianne’s dad escorted her down the aisle in a classic black suit with a crisp white shirt. Chris’s groomsmen embraced the couple’s relaxed vibe, sporting a mix of colourful suits – some dressed up with shirts while others opted for casual t-shirts. 26
