I don’t mind telling you, I got a bit over excited and filled my plate with a starter of cold meats, hummus, bread and smoked mackerel, before heading to the hot station for a pasta and chicken main. My highlight was the absolutely divine cherry cheesecake, with Amarena cherries and cherry cream. My only slight concern was how I was going to then get through a three-course meal that evening. But that was a problem for later! I needn’t have worried. After a tiring day of relaxing, by the time I headed down to Astons I was feeling a little peckish again. The service here was among the slickest I’ve ever witnessed, with the staff flitting back and forth in a way that was almost dancelike. My waiter, George, delivered my choices in no time flat. The duo of Scottish mackerel, butternut squash risotto and lemon meringue pie were a delight. TIME FOR A TREAT As part of the ESPA Blissful Break package I was treated to a Peace & Glow treatment. My therapist, Marika, was an absolute sweetheart and tailored the facial element to my skin’s needs, taking the time to give me some skincare tips afterwards. The treatment area is impressive indeed, with a wide array of treatments on offer and space to relax with a cocktail. There’s also an opportunity for a spot of shopping, so it would have been rude not to! THE END OF A DREAMY DAY After a day of ultimate relaxation, it was time to rest my head in my classic room, where I enjoyed a restful night’s sleep.
