Your London Wedding - January/February 2023 (Issue 87)

LANDSCAPES Changing From the Old Town Hall to the Albert Bridge, the bustling backdrop of Chelsea sets the scene for this local shoot When it comes to choosing a setting for your big day, you don’t have to opt for a picturesque countryside venue, a big day in the city can be just as stunning. And London, with its changing landscapes, iconic landmarks and interesting architecture creates an awesome backdrop. When Kristen Morris, owner of Kristen Kate Photography, first got into London wedding photography, she was desperate to shoot the city in all its glory to build up her portfolio, but there weren’t many workshops around to help her to do that. She therefore took on the challenge of arranging her very own first shoot, thoroughly enjoyed it and since then, has gone from strength to strength. “I’ve put together quite a few shoots now and this workshop’s an example of one of my favourites. I wanted to be able to give other photographers the same experience that I had when I first started taking London wedding bookings, to help them to build their portfolios,” says Kristen. “When I started to think about the design, I knew that I wanted the colours to pop and to create something that real brides could still relate to and could implement within their own day,” explains Kristen. “This led me to the red, pink and cream colour scheme accented throughout the flowers, shoes and make-up with additional hints threaded all the way through to the embroidered jacket,” she says. “Another huge part of the theme was creating something fun and classy but that could be adaptable to the ever-changing landscape of the Chelsea area. From the bustling main Kings Road through to Albert Bridge, I wanted the look to suit wherever we went.” It was super-important to Kristen to have a couple that was racially inclusive. “I see so many styled shoots that feature white models with blonde hair. Whilst these are lovely and representative to that group itself, I wanted to show a bit more of the diversity of London,” she says.
