Your London Wedding - May/June 2022 (Issue 83)

GROOM AND GROOMSMEN ▲ Orhan London Tailoring | www.orhanlondontailoring.com Distinguish your wedding suit from your typical business wear by selecting a textured flannel, linen, or silk to elevate your look with a luxurious touch. Many contemporary weddings are becoming less formal, with the groom’s style looking increasingly relaxed. For this, we recommend a suit that boasts a killer statement fabric and accessorised with smart-casual separates and footwear that echoes your personality. Richard Gelding Menswear | https://baltzar.com/stores/richard-gelding/ We’re finding success in wedding attire styling with the simple addition of a waistcoat. The traditional dove grey, sky blue and buff waistcoats have always been part of morning dress but if a more informal look’s required, the groom and groomsmen can find elegance in adding an odd waistcoat to their usual suit. Our navy Canali suit is a favourite, and the brighter shade always looks good at weddings. We can make the waistcoats in matching or contrasting fabrics and are finding that the double-breasted style is popular. ▲ Top tips by Dashing Tweeds | www.dashingtweeds.co.uk ❤ It’s great fun to choose an interesting fabric to bring colour and joy your wedding but make sure you coordinate it with the bride, bridemaids and your groomsmen. You can do this by using some of your chosen fabric on their outfits such as on waistcoats, pocket squares etc. ❤ Wear some sort of neckwear to look smart. Ties are a safe option, but silk cravats can look fabulous especially with a pearl pin to keep them from slipping down the neck. Bow ties are fun to wear but do try to find a shirt with buttons covered by a fly front as I think they look smarter. ❤ Wear polished shoes and if in doubt choose black. Even with lighter coloured suits black shoes always look more formal. ❤ Having beautiful colour coordinated flowers in your button holes looks very elegant. ❤ Avoid any look you’d wear to an office. Don’t just wear a black suit, have a special suit tailored in an interesting fabric. You’ll always be able to wear it again to parties and the jacket and trousers can be worn separately for other occasions. ❤ Consider the time of year and wear an appropriate weight suit, lighter weight Merino wool is great in the summer and hangs well without creasing. You can go for heavier fabrics in the winter. ❤ Tweed can be a great theme for a wedding but find some interesting modern tweeds. We create our own and the unusual designs will help you to stand out from the more traditional dark green colours. ▲ 59 DRESSING THE BRIDAL PARTY
