So, when the team invited me to try the Colonel Saab x Clueless: A Theatrical Dining Experience, I jumped at the chance to enjoy a fabulous night out with my mum. The evening began with a memorable meal at Colonel Saab Trafalgar Square, a celebrated Indian restaurant known for exquisite flavours and modern culinary techniques. The warm, intimate atmosphere is a welcome retreat from the city’s bustle, featuring a stylish bar, lounge, dining space with Firozabad chandeliers, a mezzanine, and two private dining rooms ideal for groups of up to 20 guests. We were treated to an exclusive Clueless-themed three-course menu, complete with amuse-bouche and a cocktail to kick things off. First up was the Chercules Signature Cocktail — a refreshing blend of D’yavol vodka, zesty lime, and fresh raspberries with a heroic twist, followed by the “Ugh, As If!” amuse bouche, a flavour-packed roasted cumin muffin that set the tone beautifully. For starters, I chose “Baldwin’s Favourite” Noor Mahal Chicken Tikka — tender, smoky, and perfectly balanced with creamy dip and zesty lime. My main was “The Paul Rudd Never Ages” Butter Chicken, a boneless chicken in a rich, velvety tomato and cashew gravy. Mildly spiced, subtly sweet and indulgent, it was perfect with naan and rice. To finish, we had “Cher’s Perfect Match” Mishti Doi Cheesecake, a Bengali-style dessert with Bengali lime and jaggery syrup — rich, tangy, and balanced. The staff were a standout throughout. Attentive but never intrusive, they timed each course perfectly and shared the stories behind every dish. After dinner, it was just a five-minute stroll to Trafalgar Theatre for the second part of the experience: Clueless: The Musical. Think full ‘90s nostalgia, punchy one-liners, dreamy outfits, and musical numbers that had everyone bopping along. The theatre’s intimate vibe made it feel like we were right in the middle of the action. Adapted from the beloved film (and loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma), the show transports you to ‘90s Beverly Hills with its mix of sass, style, and heart. The story follows Cher, played by the fabulous Emma Flynn — a stylish, rich, and slightly self-absorbed but well-meaning teenager navigating the ups and downs of high school. With her iconic fashion sense and popularity, she loves matchmaking and makeovers, especially when awkward new girl Tai arrives. But things don’t always go according to plan. Don’t get her started when it comes to her annoying (yet charming) ex-stepbrother Josh, played brilliantly by Keelan McAuley. The production is filled with standout moments — from laugh-out-loud humour to clever choreography by Lizzi Gee, and original music by KT Tunstall that adds a fresh energy to the classic story. And the costumes? Totally buggin’! Think plaid skirts, knee-high socks, and all the Beverly Hills glam you could dream of. Director Rachel Kavanaugh nailed the pacing, striking the perfect balance between fun, fashion, and feels. One of the highlights? Josh’s standout routine had the entire audience cheering. Overall, this was a truly feel-good evening that’s perfect for a girls’ night out filled with laughs, nostalgia, and incredible food. From £95 for both dinner and show, it’s a brilliant way to celebrate with your besties. Book now: https://colonelsaab.co.uk/whats-on/colonel-saab-xclueless-a-theatrical-dining-experience 10
