Jewel of the aisle British pearl jewellery brand ORA Pearls has opened The Pearl Shop in the heart of Whitstable on Harbour Street. The store’s marine aesthetic reflects the brand’s identity: elegant, modern, and rooted in a deep appreciation for nature’s most cherished gem. In addition to its signature pearl pieces, The Pearl Shop offers permanent welded jewellery — a growing trend in which custom-fit bracelets or anklets are painlessly welded on, symbolising connection or personal milestones. The boutique also features a range of objets d’art, alongside a curated selection of gifts and small objects chosen with care and creativity. The brand behind The Pearl Shop is led by an all-female team, committed to sustainability, craftsmanship, and supporting women. All pieces are made in limited quantities to avoid overproduction, using recyclable packaging and ethically sourced materials. To find out more, visit pearlshopwhitstable.com ONE SCOOP PLEASE Multi-award-winning artisan producer Simply Ice Cream has announced the launch of new two-litre scooping tubs. The tubs will initially be available in two of the brand’s best-selling flavours, Dreamy Vanilla and Heavenly Honeycomb, making them the perfect addition to any wedding dessert table. Handmade in small batches in the heart of the Kentish countryside, Simply Ice Cream’s creations are crafted using natural ingredients, with no artificial colours, flavours, or emulsifiers. “At this time of year, we know families and friends love sharing exceptional food,” says Sally Newall, founder of Simply Ice Cream. “Our new two-litre scooping tubs make it easier than ever to enjoy our handmade ice cream together.” Visit simplyicecream.co.uk for more information. A LABOUR OF LOVE The Radnor Arms, Folkestone, has been awarded a place in The Good Food Guide’s 100 Best Pubs in Britain. Since the new owners took charge of The Radnor Arms in 2019, it has undergone a complete transformation – a true labour of love that has turned the historic pub into a vibrant dining destination that can also be hired for private events. Jack Nimmons, operations director of The Pickled Egg Pub Company, said: “We are absolutely blown away by the support from our customers. Being recognised in The Good Food Guide and now receiving a spot in the UK’s top pubs is a huge honour. I couldn’t be prouder of the team. They absolutely deserve this recognition, and we’re incredibly proud of what’s been achieved. It’s a brilliant moment for all of us.” Find out more about The Radnor Arms at radnorarmsfolkestone.co.uk NEWS Nearlywed Catch up on news from around Kent 6

The accolade recognises the historic village inn for its outstanding food, quality drinks, and friendly, attentive service. The listing comes hot on the heels of the venue’s recent inclusion in The Guardian’s 30 Best UK Pubs for an Autumn Escape with Great Food. The country inn plans to build on this momentum with a packed calendar of events and experiences celebrating great food, drink, and hospitality in the heart of the Kent countryside. The Leicester Arms underwent a major refurbishment in 2024 by the Little & Large Pub Company and owners Brakspear. The renovation upgraded the space while preserving its charm and character. The pub now has 13 en-suite bedrooms, providing the luxury of a boutique hotel combined with individually designed, botanically inspired interiors that make each room unique. Manu Bhatt, founder of the Little & Large Pub Company, said: “We are proud of the team and grateful to our guests, neighbours, and suppliers for their support. Being named in The Good Food Guide and highlighted by The Guardian as a great place to stay and a food destination is a real boost to what we have set out to create here. We are excited to welcome guests for a season of long lunches, cosy dinners, and memorable celebrations.” Check out more at theleicesterarmspenshurst.co.uk Beautifully bespoke Thanet-based calligraphy artist Signed.Ami has been named a South East Regional Winner at The Wedding Industry Awards 2026 in the Stationery category. Regional winners now go through to the national final being held in Liverpool in January 2026. Ami Taylor, the calligrapher and artist behind Signed.Ami, says: “It was such a surprise to be nominated, and then to go on to win in such a huge region, which includes London, is simply amazing! I’m blown away by the votes and comments from the couples I have worked with over the last year locally. I learned calligraphy four years ago and have built the business working evenings and weekends around the demands of family life with high-supportneeds, neurodivergent children. In between weddings, I also create chalkboard signage for local businesses, paint seasonal window displays, and teach calligraphy workshops. This is only my third year creating wedding signage, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” Visit instagram.com/signed.ami for more information. LATEST NEWS 7

Chiddingstone Castle is a dreamy destination for weddings A Grade II* listed historic house, Chiddingstone Castle boasts 35 acres of informal grounds comprising sweeping lawns, a lake, woodlands, and breathtaking views of the Kent countryside. The castle provides a magnificent backdrop for a wedding: turrets, towers, beautiful stonework, and impressively large doors add a sense of grandeur while still being small enough to offer intimate charm. Celebrate in style The Victorian Orangery features a Victorian stone structure with an award-winning glass roof and can accommodate up to 400 guests. The Great Hall is a grand, formal room of Tudor heritage that can seat up to 80 people. The newlyweds sign the register at the 17th-century oak refectory table beneath the stained-glass window overlooking the courtyard rose garden. The White Rose Drawing Room is a light and elegant space with breathtaking views of the Weald. It boasts high ceilings, large double-aspect windows, and a stone fireplace, making it perfect for a more intimate ceremony of up to 60 guests. Although not part of Chiddingstone Castle, St Mary’s Church in the Tudor village of Chiddingstone is a short walk through the grounds for those who would prefer a religious ceremony. After the vows, as couples have exclusive use, all the rooms at the castle are fully flexible. Should the wedding breakfast exceed 80 guests, the addition of a marquee increases capacity to 400. The evening reception and dancing then take place in the Great Hall. Luxury extras An exclusive package is available that includes an elite catering team who will provide mouthwatering food. The castle partners with several local, highly rated hotels and boutique bed and breakfasts, and when celebrations come to an end, newlyweds can enjoy executive transport to their chosen accommodation. OF LOVE Garden An enchanting English garden theme set the tone for Helen and Ben’s wedding at The Ferry House Images courtesy of Burst Photos Helen and Ben met like many modern couples, online through a dating app. Their connection was instant, and over time their bond only grew deeper. Ben proposed during a magical city break in Berlin. “It was our last night, and we’d managed to get last-minute evening tickets to visit the dome and roof terrace of the Reichstag Building,” says Helen. “Ben asked me to marry him just outside, a few minutes after midnight, making it Valentine’s Day. I was overjoyed and excited that we could look forward to planning more of our bucket-list trips together.” The couple dreamed of a venue surrounded by nature, with an outdoor ceremony setting. Helen explains, “The Ferry House felt remote enough to enjoy the scenic views over the water’s edge. The backdrop and the oak gazebo made it an easy choice for us. A major factor was having an all-in-one venue with accommodation. There are rooms on-site and cottages nearby, which was exactly what our guests needed.” To make The Ferry House feel their own, Helen and Ben chose an English garden theme with soft pastel tones and an abundance of wildflowers. “Our florists, JoJo Blooms and Sue Davies Flowers and Garden, were recommended to us by my work colleague who had seen some of their displays,” recalls Helen. “Our conversations with the florists shaped some of the biggest styling decisions. They understood my vision perfectly and made it even more beautiful than I’d imagined.” Their theme continued into their cake design. “I showed Greta from Gauer Sugarcraft some reference pictures of cakes with oversized sugar craft flowers cascading and twisting down the sides,” says the bride. “She liaised with the florists on colours and my bouquet style, so everything matched perfectly. It looked incredible, and the flavours and texture were exquisite.” Helen wore a Stella York gown called Sandrine from Isabella Grace Bridal. “The gown made me feel elegant and modern, and I loved the details of the train and the side split, so I could show off my shoes,” she says. “I used to be a footwear designer, so shoes are part of my personality. It even had pockets for my glasses. I was dreading trying on dresses, as I usually struggle to find clothes I like, but this was so easy! I went with my gut and not my head – a bit like when you fall in love!” Ben wore a navy suit from Skopes, paired with a crisp white shirt and a patterned Liberty tie. To entertain their loved ones, the couple invited talented friends to perform. Heather Broderick sang beautifully, followed by the James Harrison Band, who played acoustic guitar and double bass. The Ferry House supplied lawn games throughout the day and a DJ in the evening to keep the celebrations in full swing. There were countless unforgettable moments throughout their day, and the couple found it difficult to choose just one. “One of the biggest was meeting Ben and our daughter at the barn entrance before walking down the aisle together, then the rush of emotion seeing all the guests and the beautiful flowers,” says Helen. “It was overwhelming to feel so much love all at once. The highlight was truly the ceremony itself and making our vows to one another. There were so many emotional moments, the readings by family members and the speeches, but I also laughed so much throughout the day. I laughed all through the first dance performing our little choreographed routine, even though no one noticed we only had four steps on repeat! Luckily, our daughter saved us by joining in. I also treasured the peaceful moments with Ben when we had our couple shots, especially walking along the water’s edge as evening fell – the sound of the disco in the distance, and just a quiet moment for the two of us in nature.” REAL WEDDINGS 33
