Your Kent Wedding - November/December 2025 (Issue 123)

REVIEW going for many years. I also sensed that whilst these weekends of adventure and music aren’t centred around romance, there seems to be lots of it in the air. There is a designated hut in base camp where people can sign up to speed date other campers. Plus, you have plenty of opportunities during the activities to meet strangers and build connections. CHATS WITH CAMPERS During my stay, I was introduced to two lovely couples: one that got engaged on opening night (Aaron and Helena) and the second (James and Marija) who decided to have their minimoon at Camp Wildfire. When chatting with Aaron and Helena, I asked why Camp Wildfire was the chosen location for the proposal? Aaron responded, “Wildfire is our special place and we think of coming to Wildfire as our New Year celebration. Our year revolves around coming here, instead of Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We’ve both been coming for years, so this place is really special to us. The proposal happened under the Camp Wildfire sign, as you walk in as a collective to centre camp on the first night. We normally stop here and have a cuddle and take a moment to soak it all in – but this year, it was the place I proposed.” And what would you recommend to people wanting to come to Camp Wildfire? Is this the place to build relationships? Helena answers, “Oh yeah, I’d do anything here! Anything goes and everyone is so lovely. You can challenge yourself, try things you’d never get a chance to do otherwise, meet new people, or you can come here with friends and family. It’s just a safe space where you can let your hair down and be at one with nature. You can come here on your own or with a group of 20 people – it’s very welcoming; our wildfire family grows every year.” My question for the mini-mooners, James and Marija, was for people who are considering honeymooning here, what characteristics did they think they need? Do they need to be confident, outgoing, and adventure-seeking? Marija responded, “I think you can be anything. Everyone here is so loving and caring that if you’re outgoing, or even want time to yourself, there’s people around to help you. It’s just an all-round welcoming place. Also, there’s so many activities to cater to different people, all of which can be done as a couple or alone. We like to do all of our activities together, as we find this is the most wholesome.” TO CONCLUDE I can absolutely confirm that my time at Camp Wildfire was highlighted by very kind campers and staff. The quick sense of community built in just one weekend is down to the openness of the attendees and the enthusiasm of those running it. If you’re up for an adventure, alone or as part of a hen/stag do or wedding celebration, then this is the place for you! It’s a weekend packed full of exciting classes, classic festival food (catering to all dietary requirements), and live entertainment.
