DON’T PANIC! We’re getting married in a few weeks, and we’ve left most of the planning until last minute! I’m panicking about how to decorate our venue. Do you have any suggestions? Firstly, don’t panic — it’s amazing what can be achieved, even at the last minute, with the right approach and a clear vision. Start by focusing on the key areas of your venue that will make the biggest impact. Think about your entrance, ceremony space, and dining tables. These are the places your guests will spend the most time, and where well-chosen décor can transform the space beautifully. Consider using large statement pieces like floral arrangements, candles, or hired backdrops to instantly elevate the space without overcomplicating things. Ambient lighting such as fairylights, pillar candles, or hanging lanterns, can also create an intimate, romantic atmosphere quickly and easily. If time is short, lean into a minimalist, cohesive aesthetic. Choose one or two colours and textures to style around; fresh greenery, neutral tones, or soft florals always work beautifully. Don’t feel like you must fill every corner; a few well-placed, intentional details will have far more impact than cluttered décor. Lastly, don’t be afraid to call in professional stylists or florists. Even with a short lead time, many are used to working under pressure and can help you bring your vision to life with ease. www.atouchofkent.com @atouchofkent Email: info@atouchofkent.com Emma Collyer Photography https://www.emmacollyer.com/ Florals & styling: A Touch of Kent) DON’T SHY AWAY! Lots of photographers offer an engagement shoot, but we’re camera-shy and don’t know if it’s for us. What are the benefits? Let’s face it, most of us stay clear of the camera and I completely understand why couples feel unsure or nervous. But I can honestly tell you that having a pre-shoot or engagement shoot will only benefit! They will in fact, have a positive impact on your wedding photos, as the photographer has already got to know you and the style you’re looking for. I believe in the power of a pre-shoot so much that I frequently provide one when booking (free of charge). A pre-shoot will help you get to know what you feel comfortable with, how you interact with one another, and understand the love story you’re trying to share. It also provides a great opportunity to gain confidence in front of the camera and have some fun, romantic moments. The bonus is you get a set of gorgeous images to keep, and memories to look back on. All of this results in beautifully relaxed wedding photos, having gained confidence and a deeper relationship with your photographer. https://nphotography.co.uk @nphotography82 Email: nicola@nphotography.co.uk CAPTURE THE MOMENT We’re clueless when it comes to photography. Is there a list of shots we should ask our photographer to capture? To avoid any disappointment on the day or when you get your photo’s back, it’s important to decide ahead of time the shots you want to get. This could be a certain aspect of the venue you want to capture, or a list of friends and family you don’t want to miss a photo-op with. Make sure you tell your photographer the style of photos you want, candid or posed as examples, and clarify what finer details you want pictured on the big day. Any professional photographer will go out of their way to capture every element of your day, but it is still worth mentioning your specific requests. I would always recommend you meet up with your photographer ahead of your special day, to feel as comfortable as possible when discussing your individual needs. My main bit of advice would be to go through each step of the day and make a list of the moments you want included. You wouldn’t want to miss a beautiful moment because you weren’t prepared or had your mind elsewhere. www.petesphotography.net @petes.photography Email: pete@petesphotography.net Emma Collyer Photography https://www.emmacollyer.com/ Florals & styling: A Touch of Kent) 84
