Your Kent Wedding - May/June 2025 (Issue 120)

ADD SOME SPARKLE! Q I’ve bought a dress with no embellishments, and now I’m worried it’s too plain. How can I add the wow-factor to it? A Adding covered buttons in the same fabric as the dress and covering the zip all the way down the back seam, certainly gives a very simple but effective wow-factor to your dress. Adding a belt around the waist really does change the whole look too. You may wish to add a bit of sparkle on the belt at the front or choose to have the whole length of the belt adorned in sparkle – this can be beads, sequins, pearls, or a combination! Jewellery is always a great way to change a dress, and what a brilliant excuse to splash out for your wedding. Choose a hair piece that complements your look, and team with a matching necklace and earrings. A Your first bridal appointment is an exciting step in your wedding journey, and while it’s natural to feel a little nervous, knowing what to expect can help you feel more prepared. When you arrive at your chosen bridal boutique, you’ll be greeted by a stylist who will guide you through the entire process. Appointments often begin with a relaxed chat to discuss your style, venue and vision for the big day. Don’t worry if you’re unsure, stylists are there to help you discover what you love. Your stylist may select dresses based on your preferences, but feel free to browse and pull options that catch your eye. You’ll then head to a private fitting room where your stylist will assist you in trying on each gown. Be prepared to see yourself in various styles – sometimes the unexpected choice turns out to be the one. To make the most of your visit, bring a strapless bra and nude underwear for comfort. A trusted friend or family member can offer helpful feedback but limit your entourage to two or three people, for a stress-free experience. Most importantly, bring an open mind and enjoy the moment – this is your chance to celebrate and feel amazing as you find your dream dress! A The key to a fresh, dewy finish starts with a good skincare routine – ensuring your skin is hydrated ready for the products. Once your skin is prepped and glowing the makeup will sit beautifully. I start with a hydrating primer, usually something with light-reflecting properties (the Saie glowy super gel is my favourite at the moment!). On to the base, I love NARS’ Lightreflecting Foundation or Armani’s Illuminous Foundation; this offers a light coverage and when topped off with Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter, you’re guaranteed a glow. A creamy blush by Patrick TA or Hourglass will give a fresh dewy finish; I like to lock this into place with the Dior Glow Palette – I also add this to the brow bone and cheek bone for the ultimate glow from within look. Use a hydrating setting spray to maintain the glow without your makeup slipping (make sure you use one that is designed to illuminate). Avoid over powdering and lightly dust the T-Zone where you may need mattifying. Finish off with a lip liner and a gloss to achieve that radiant look for your special day.
