Your Kent Wedding - May/June 2025 (Issue 120)

was used by Charlotte and the bridesmaids to get ready during the morning; which was great for them and meant they all had loads of room and a relaxed environment. But, once the day kicked off, we had no specific use for it, so decided we would turn it into a games room”. They later donated the games used in the wedding to their local charity shop, extra points for sustainability! Another way Charlotte and Jacob went off course was with their open bar. “We had rubber ducks in all different styles and colours around the venue during the day, which people could collect, and then in the evening, people traded them in for a free drink at the bar!” recalls Jacob. “This was great entertainment and helped to ensure our ‘free drinks’ lasted all evening and got spread around the group”. Leas Cliff Hall catered for the event and the couple decided to reflect the theme and go for posh fish and chips. “They couldn’t have been more helpful; even putting on a special tasting event for us to try some options. The end product was even better than we expected, a huge range, variety and in all honesty, probably too much – it was excellent,” says Charlotte. “They were also super helpful with accommodating dietary requirements, and with responding to requests”. LOOKING THE PART On the special day Charlotte, the blushing bride, wore an amazing dress with floral sleeves. “I knew I wanted sleeves but was curious about other parts of the dress so tried a wide range on,” remembers Charlotte. Her dream gown was paired with a mid-length veil. The dashing groom, Jacob, wore a blue navy tailcoat hired from Rathbones. To complement the colour scheme, the bridesmaids all wore teal-coloured long-length dresses with short sleeves fitted to the waist. MEMORABLE MOMENTS The morning of the wedding is an exciting yet nerve-wracking prospect, however, Charlotte and Jacob had a calmer approach to the day with Charlotte being, “excited to finally see Jake at the end of the aisle and have our day together that we’d planned over the last year.” Jacob with a very similar attitude, “I was just excited. It was incredible to see almost everyone we know and care about there together.” But what stood out to them the most? Charlotte cherished the moment she walked down the aisle to her future husband, along with the speeches, the food and the endless dancing. Jacob found that the quieter moments where he could take a step back and drink it all in was the bit that stuck with him. A room full of your loved ones celebrating the joining of two hearts is a moment not many people forget and it’s clear that Charlotte and Jacob felt the pull of this on the day. NEWLYWED ADVENTURE The honeymoon is a tale of two halves and starts with 72-hours of actionpacked adventure in Las Vegas. A location the pair had considered going to on many occasions but never had the excuse before. The second part was in Antigua, somewhere they “accidentally ended up previously”. Charlotte adds, “We were en route to Dominican Republic, but when we were in the air, a hurricane hit the island! The flight was scheduled to stop in Antigua anyway – but when we landed, they advised us that they wouldn’t be able to continue to Dominican Republic, and we would be stopping in Antigua. We were well looked after and put up in a lovely hotel which we really liked, so chose to return for a more deliberate stay for the honeymoon!”. TOP TIP A pearl of wisdom that Charlotte and Jacob offer is to not sweat the small stuff. “It really does go so fast so try to enjoy every moment with everyone there. Take a moment for you two, and with your bridesmaids/best men, your parents. It’s such a special day. Also, always remember it is what it is. Don’t stress about plans or expectations – you’ve planned as much as you can, and it will be perfect. If anything goes wrong your guests probably don’t know, and it is still your best day!” 41 REAL WEDDINGS
