Your Kent Wedding - January/February 2024 (Issue 112)

LIGHT ‘EM UP! Based in Tunbridge Wells, Loriest & Co is embracing the seasonality of winter with three captivating aromatic scented candles − perfect for wedding day ambience or big-day gifting. Each candle connects the beauty of the outdoors with the cosy comforts of home. The Notes of December scented candle captures the richness of an evergreen forest with a chorus of pine and spruce bathed in winter sunshine. A joyful woody scent to uplift any room, any desk, any coffee table, and every entrance hall this season. The Notes of January candle harnesses the ritual of a fresh start with the cleansing herbaceous aromas of rosemary and thyme to invigorate the home and invites a delightful start to the day when lit at breakfast on dark January mornings. A welcome and sensorial addition to any table. The Notes of February candle brings the romanticism of the first snowdrops with a light floral amber scent that elegantly fills a room with the gentle reassurance that spring is near, and the season is once more beginning to shift into growth, light, and colour. The Kent countryside retreat combines a restaurant headed by executive chef Scott Goss, creating a unique destination for food enthusiasts and those seeking the perfect escape. Champion of Kent produce and alumni of the late great Gary Rhodes, chef Scott Goss says, “I’m thrilled that we are able to offer guests a culinary experience through our restaurant, events and weddings, plus the addition of offering a luxe home from home. This takes us to the next level of providing more to our local and regional guests.” The rooms are an extension of the Garden Kitchen, main restaurant and wedding venue, so the design reflects these other areas creating a cohesive visitor experience. The Beacon has gone through many different iterations in its time, from a public bath house to a private house, a hostel for refugees twice and a pub for the local community; now it’s the restaurant with rooms and wedding venue it is today!
