72 WOW-FACTOR DRESSES I’ve bought a dress with no embellishments, and now I’m worried it’s too plain. How can I add the wow-factor? Let’s start by saying you’ve not purchased a plain dress; you have picked a classic and elegant design for your big day that you felt confident and beautiful in. We understand you may want to add some touches to give the gown some added wow factor, and there are plenty of ways to achieve this. Most boutiques will suggest a belt to add some sparkle, but here are our three top suggestions.  Not every bride wants to wear a veil, but remember it doesn’t have to be the traditional type. One of our absolute favourites is the pearl bow veil handmade by Hayze Bridal. We guarantee your guests will comment on this striking piece!  How about a colourful pair of shoes, maybe blue if you’re feeling daring? Or sparkly and strappy heels are always a winner.  Add some large chandelier earrings or an oversized necklace for some added wow factor. There are a few things to consider when looking for a foundation, such as your age if you have fine lines. Slightly mature skin is much more suited to a lighter foundation with a hydrating formula. Steer clear of powder products, which will age the skin compared to giving a youthful glow when using hydrating liquid products. Consider how much coverage you’re after and if you have any problem areas that need covering up. If so, my tip would be to colour-correct with a concealer and use as little product as needed rather than using a heavy foundation – this will create a more natural and glowing look overall. The foundations that I love and use in my make-up kit are NARS Cosmetics Sheer Glow Foundation, Armani Power Fabric, Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation and MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation. An absolute must is to ensure that your foundation has a decent SPF all year round to protect you from sun damage. Do you have any ideas of what I should look for? You might want to wear something blue on your special day, but hopefully it won’t be your lip colour because you’re freezing! It will definitely show in photos if you’re uncomfortably cold on your wedding day. For extra warmth, consider wearing a dress with sleeves like this lace and tulle dress from Milla Nova, which is perfect for giving you some coverage. If you’ve fall head over heels for a strapless gown, you could always choose to accessorise with a little faux fur wrap or cape, which gives a great second look and extra layers to keep warm. Or opt for long satin gloves for a modern but classic feel – think Nicola Peltz-Beckham vibes.
