day. “Tourelle Cuisine provided our catering, and they were exceptional,” Maddie tells us. “There was potted ham hock with beetroot and horseradish chutney or goat’s cheese salad with wild rocket, aubergine caviar and green olive salsa to start. For the main course, we had slow-cooked beef cheeks with potato rosti, a rich Burgundy wine jus, and creamy dauphinoise potatoes. Our vegetarian option was a wild mushroom filo pastry on sweet potato rosti with roasted vine tomatoes and a Madeira sauce. Dessert was a trio of passion fruit bavarois, a chocolate Armagnac crunch torte with crème anglaise, and a mascarpone tart topped with fresh raspberries and blackberry coulis.” Maddie chose the Debussy bridal dress by Suzanne Neville. “It was made to measure to ensure the perfect fit because I’m very petite,” she tells us. “I fell in love with the intricate floral detailing that felt romantic, elegant and timeless.” Dan chose an Uppington navy mohair suit styled with a grey waistcoat, a pair of brown Loake shoes and an olive paisley silk tie from Swagger & Swoon. “The groomsmen wore the same navy suits but with navy waistcoats and moss green ties to match the bridesmaids’ one-shoulder satin dresses,” Maddie explains. Maddie and Dan chose the harpist Heather Wrighton to perform during their ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast. “It added a beautiful, elegant feel to our day,” Maddie explains. “Heather switched to her Electro Acoustic Celtic Harp for the outdoor drinks reception, giving the music a fresh, modern twist.” For their evening reception, the couple booked the band Beat Junkie. “To our surprise, the band’s lead vocalist was actually Mike Woodhams, who finished as the runner-up on Britain’s Got Talent in 2024!” Maddie tells us. “From the moment they started playing, the energy in the room was incredible. A highlight was hearing them perform our first dance song. As this track reached its upbeat section, we invited everyone on to the dancefloor to celebrate with us. A moment no one saw coming was when two giant cut-outs of our beloved Siamese cats, Lumi and Miso, were carried out! The reaction was priceless, with laughter and cheers as our furry family members made their unexpected appearance. Anyone who knows us knows how obsessed we are with our cats, so it felt like the perfect way to include them in our wedding day, even if they couldn’t be there in person. Looking around the room and seeing all of our favourite people smiling, singing and holding giant cat heads in the air is a memory we’ll never forget - it was completely unexpected!” REAL WEDDINGS 27
