Guests staying at the hotel chipped in for a coach to the venue, while the groomsmen went over earlier in the morning for a round of golf. On the way back, we all got on the coach together—it was a proper laugh, with singing and drinks being passed around! As a surprise for Nat, I created a memorial for John using three apple crates, candles, eucalyptus, a coaster and a photo. Each of us—me and the bridesmaids—carried a single white rose, and as we walked down the aisle, we each placed a rose on top of the memorial. It was really special. Our flowers were done by a close family friend, who also arranged the flowers for Nathan’s dad’s funeral. All the men wore a white rose as their buttonhole—the Yorkshire rose for John. The bridesmaids carried gypsophila, and I had a bouquet of gypsophila with eucalyptus. East Horton was the first venue we viewed, and we decided then and there – it was just so beautiful! Nathan wore a navy check three-piece suit from Moss. He and his best man—his brother—wore the same, while the rest of the groomsmen wore navy suits. There was one hiccup that’s funny now—but wasn’t at the time! Me and the girls were meant to leave for the venue at 12:30 pm so I could meet the registrar 15 minuets later. The coach turned up 50 minutes late and I was pacing up and down the corridor in full panic mode! Luckily, we weren’t actually late in the end, and it all went smoothly. 38
