Your Herts and Beds Wedding - December 2022/January 2023 (Issue 95)

Ollie first stayed at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel for work and messaged to say we should consider it as a wedding venue. We fell in love with everything about the hotel, from the impressive grounds to the traditional feel of the building and the service offered. We tied the knot in the Poles Hall, which had a traditional style and a magical atmosphere. My fantastic friend designed the stationery using a blue and gold colour scheme and flowers. Ollie works in molecular biology and had a selection of cuddly microbes when studying, so guests received cuddly keyrings for favours. We also have them Covid-19 antigens as he helped set up a Covid 19 testing centre and his company helped manufacture components of the tests. I wanted our flowers to feature blue hydrangeas and left the rest to our florist’s creative imagination. Gina was great at sending names and images of flowers to help us decide! We liked the idea of using the word love in different languages for our table names, which worked perfectly as we had guests from various nationalities on the day. We gave our guests pin badges to support charities conducting research into illnesses that have affected our families; these include Diabetes UK, Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society. 42
