Your Herts and Beds Wedding - August/September 2022 (Issue 93)

CAUGHT ON CAMERA We’re considering booking a videographer for our wedding, but we’re not sure what to look for. Do you have any tips you can share? There are a huge number of videographers out there, all offering different styles and options. Firstly, I’d suggest you look at the deliverables and decide whether you’d like a full feature-length film that’s around one to two hours long or something a little shorter such as 10 to 20 minutes. This will help narrow down the number of videographers you’re considering, as not all offer both options. Then it comes down to the style you’re after. Do you want a more candid documentary-style film or something a little more staged and up-market? Many filmmakers out there create amazing cinematic-style pieces, pushing the creative side of what a wedding film could be. Music and sound design are so impactful in film, so consider whether the videographer has a particular style and whether that fits your tastes. I use a lot of acoustic and country-style, which works very well. What’s popular right now? Couples are always looking to make their cakes special and different for their big day, so the standard three-tiered white cakes aren’t as popular as they once were. I’ve had a lot of couples asking for deconstructed tiered cakes, so three or four single-tiers grouped together to make a wow factor display – this was made popular by Harry and Meghan. Many pairs are now looking for a showstopping sweet grazing-style display, which can be served as dessert and gives guests various flavour options Adding flowers to cakes is still a huge trend. When displayed in a more natural and wild way, it creates the perfect look for those rustic country weddings. Pressed flowers are also trending and are great when combined with fresh and larger blooms.
