Q&A Our experts give their advice to help you look your big-day best LOCKS OF LOVE My hair suffers from breakage due to heat damage, and I’d love to get my healthy locks back. What would you suggest? Depending on how damaged your hair is, a protein treatment is your best bet to treat hair quickly because protein is the building block of healthy hair. You’ll see results quicker if you take specific steps to prevent further damage. Here are a couple of tips to help... ❤ Turn down the temperature on heat-styling tools. If you still need to use heat, using a lower setting for less time will prevent more damage. ❤ Make sure to use a heat-protection product as many people skip this step. ❤ Don’t over-wash your hair, as regular shampooing can strip your locks of natural oils. It might feel like it gets oily at first, but your hair will adjust over time. ❤ When you wash your hair, turn down the heat to a lukewarm temperature and finish with a shot of cold water to close the hair cuticles for a shinier and smoother look. ❤ To keep hair hydrated, use a leave-in conditioner or protein spray. My nourishing leave-in spray is perfect for the task and is one of my most popular products. Add a deep treatment mask once a week, and you’ll see the results! Opt for a gown with a flowing and softer silhouette to achieve the illusion of height, such as an empire, A-line, sheath, or column dress. Wearing a long and fairytale-style train will also help create a lengthening effect. Dresses with a plunging neckline work well to lengthen your silhouette, but avoid too much volume or detailing as this tends to shorten the overall shape of gowns. Avoid straight across or strapless necklines and exaggerated mermaid or fishtail styles clinched horizontally across the skirt. Another way to achieve extra height would be high heels, perhaps a stylish wedge for extra stability. Add a hairstyle with a bit of height at the crown to add a few extra inches. Most importantly, remember that you want to feel comfortable and like a more polished version of yourself on your wedding day. So, be true to your style and be fabulous!
