From school friends to soulmates A chance encounter at a local pub reignited a friendship that would lead to a heartfelt proposal and an elegant barn celebration for Stacey and Nick Images courtesy of Gaetano Di Giacomo Media Production These lovebirds first met in high school, never sharing classes but often crossing paths between lessons and through mutual friends. A few years after leaving school, Nick spotted Stacey at a local pub and asked, “Who’s that?” When he realised it was Stacey from school, he later said he was hooked from that moment. As late-night texts and chats turned their friendship into something more, Stacey was preparing to leave for a three-month trip around Australia and New Zealand. “The timing couldn’t have been worse,” she recalls. “Despite the distance, we kept in contact through letters, postcards and internet cafés. We missed each other so much that as soon as I arrived home, we decided we never wanted to be apart again and moved in together.” Nick knew early on that he wanted to marry Stacey but felt a strong responsibility to be worthy of her. “I wanted Stacey and her dad to feel proud and excited when the moment came,” he explains. After fifteen years together and finding the ring years earlier, he carefully planned the perfect proposal, including asking her dad for his blessing. Months later, in a stunning suite overlooking Santorini on their anniversary, despite a brief interruption from room service, he finally got down on one knee and said, “I love you so much. I want you to be mine forever. Will you marry me?” Through tears, Stacey said “yes”, and they celebrated with Champagne and calls to loved ones, a moment they’ll treasure forever. When it came to finding the perfect venue, the couple had clear priorities. “We had decided the things we definitely wanted from our venue and began looking at different places. Our musthaves were dog-friendly throughout the whole day, a venue that I could stay at the night before and get ready with my girls on our wedding morning, somewhere with a honeymoon suite for us to stay the night of our wedding and rooms for our guests if they chose to stay.” After visiting The Farmhouse at Redcoats with their dog River, they booked within a week. The couple chose an elegant, timeless and romantic aesthetic with white and ivory hydrangeas, roses and gypsophila, complemented by pillar candles. Sharing the day with their black Labrador, River, was very important to them, and they also incorporated tributes to their beloved dog Forrest, including a Labrador figurine on the cake and a framed photo displayed at the venue. The barn’s high ceilings were enhanced with suspended gypsophila clouds and statement floral arrangements. They stood between a broken flower arch for the ceremony, later reused for the sweetheart table and lined the aisle with candles and mini flower clouds. Tables were named after Norfolk beaches meaningful to them. The bride says, “The location holds many great memories for us and our dogs over the years, and we wanted to have that felt by our guests.” Loved ones enjoyed prosecco, beers, elderflower cordial and canapés after the ceremony, followed by exceptional food from the venue’s restaurant team. “The food there has always been exceptional, so being able to return for breakfast, Sunday lunch or even a simple date night after the wedding makes it even more special,” says Stacey. The bride wore the All About Eve gown by Dando London from the Movie Classic Collection. It was a beautiful ivory gown with a nude keyhole back, ultra-thin beaded straps, an A-line skirt with a front split, sparkle underlay and delicate lace appliqué detailing. She had always imagined herself in a fitted or fishtail dress, but after feeling underwhelmed at earlier appointments, she reluctantly tried on this style and instantly fell in love. It didn’t have any of the elements she thought she wanted, yet she couldn’t stop looking at herself in the mirror and didn’t want to take it off. Although she didn’t receive the best service at the original boutique, she later found the dress again at Oliver’s Bridal & Formalwear, where Ellie made the experience truly special. REAL WEDDINGS 17
The bride finished her look with barely-there ivory leather bridal sandals from Dune London’s wedding collection, featuring crystal-embellished straps and a hidden blue jewel on the sole. Her bouquet was a dreamy dome of gypsophila and ivory roses, wrapped in satin ribbon and a tulle overlay saved from her wedding dress by her seamstress. A sentimental locket from her beloved nan, a surprise from her mother, was attached to the handle, serving as her something old and something borrowed. Nick wore a tailored and custom-made three-piece suit by Souster & Hicks, perfectly suited to the countryside setting. The classic cut featured a soft beige waistcoat and a sage green tie to complement the bridesmaids, styled with a crisp white shirt from Eton and brown leather Oxford shoes by Morjas. He completed his look with Labrador cufflinks in tribute to his beloved dog and a special pin from Stacey featuring their first dog, Forrest, worn inside his jacket close to his heart. Evening celebrations included a relaxed pizza buffet and a lively dancefloor, complete with a surprise saxophonist. Stacey shares, “Of course, seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle was an amazing moment. Another was surprising our guests with a saxophonist. During our evening reception entrance, Dom Plays Sax followed us out onto the dancefloor while playing our engagement song. We loved seeing the surprise on our guests’ faces and how much Dom got everybody excited for the night ahead. Enjoying our whole wedding day and evening with each other and our dog River. Having him by our side throughout it all was such a special memory to cherish.” 18

A DECADE in the making Ten years after meeting online and following a romantic proposal on the drive home from a family wedding, Precious and Sean finally said “I do” Images courtesy of Sarah Legge Photography REAL WEDDINGS 23
These lovebirds met online 10 years ago and at the time, they didn’t realise the adventures that awaited them. Over the years, their love has grown and blossomed into the bond they share today, eventually leading to Sean proposing while driving home after a family wedding. SETTING THE SCENE The lovebirds tied the knot at Micklefield Hall, the perfect country house wedding venue, complete with an award-winning tithe barn, a romantic temple and rose garden, which first caught their attention. To complement the setting and their vision, they chose shades of cream and green. The bride was inspired by social media, having spent hours scrolling for ideas. She brought different concepts together to add personality to the day. Kals Kitchen worked with the pair to create a Caribbean-themed menu, which went down a treat. LOOKING THE PART The bride looked radiant in an ivory silk gown. “To be honest, it was a no at first,” Precious comments. “That was until I discovered the dress had pockets and I put a jacket over the top - I fell in love with it!” Sean looked dapper in a cream and black tuxedo, 24
standing out against his groomsmen, who wore forest green velvet jackets with black trousers. The bridesmaids looked beautiful, each choosing from three different styles to suit their body shapes, all in a shade of olive, finished with a diamante belt. MOMENTS TO TREASURE The couple had a great DJ on the day, keeping the party alive with a mix of hits. There was also an illustrator drawing guests upon their arrival, adding a special touch. There were many standout moments from the day, ones the couple will treasure for the rest of their lives. “Seeing all our dreams and plans come together on the day was so special,” says Precious. “The beautiful weather was amazing too!” REAL WEDDINGS 25

The ultimate guide to finding the perfect flowers to match your wedding day unsplash.com/@srosinger3997 Wedding flowers are far more than just décor; they’re the heartbeat of the celebration. They frame your vows, line the path to your future and set the tone for every unforgettable moment. Each bloom has taken its own journey, growing from seed to full flourish, just as your love has grown, rooted, nurtured and blossomed. From the softest petals to the most dramatic floral display, these are the touches that transform a venue into a storybook setting. Every stem speaks a silent language of beauty, emotion and memory. This is our tribute to all things floral: the delicate, the bold, the intricate and the awe-inspiring. CEREMONY FLORALS Start your day with florals that not only add beauty to the space but also infuse it with emotion and romance. Ceremony flowers create the first visual chapter of your love story, from aisle to altar. Frame your walk with lush floral installations or soft greenery. Whether you’re dreaming of bold impact or subtle elegance, think beyond tradition with broken arches or moon arches for their asymmetrical beauty and editorial finish. Aisle accents aren’t limited to petals; consider mini arrangements tied to chairs, delicate lanterns nestled with blooms or even floral touches along railings, staircases and fireplaces. Don’t overlook the entryway; adding grand urns, wreaths or a flower-adorned welcome sign can make a beautiful first impression. Just ensure your floral choices reflect the venue’s scale and your overall theme. unsplash.com/@sadmax A PERSONAL MASTERPIECE Your bouquet should be an extension of you, your style, your story and your moment. Whether you’re going for timeless elegance, boho wildness or modern minimalism, your bouquet can set the tone. The design goes beyond colour and flowers. Think about texture, scent, shape and finishing details like trailing ribbons, statement greener or even heirloom charms tucked inside. Size and structure matter too. Oversized bouquets may overpower the silhouette or be tricky to handle, while smaller ones might disappear in photographs. From round and romantic to cascading and whimsical, choose a style that’s both photogenic and manageable. Don’t forget the bridal party! Opt for smaller bouquets that harmonise with your arrangement without mirroring the look completely. PRETTY PETALS For a sustainable flourish, use biodegradable flower petal confetti for that magical exit moment. Choose colours and textures that reflect your palette and create beautiful floating effects in your photos, leaving a lasting impression that’s elegant and eco-friendly. Floral Moments unsplash.com/@reganography FLOWERS 37
unsplash.com/@patresinger THE WEDDING BREAKFAST After you’ve said, “I do,” repurpose your ceremony florals to stretch your budget and maximise impact. Flowers from the aisle or altar can frame your top table or sit as focal points on your dessert station or guestbook area. For centrepieces, think variety by combining different heights, textures and colours. Tall arrangements offer drama, while low ones encourage conversation. Or go for a relaxed look with wild floral runners, potted herbs or clusters of mini arrangements in mismatched glassware. Avoid placing anything too high or wide in the centre that could block guests’ views across the table. HANGING FLORAL INSTALLATIONS For that jaw-dropping wow factor, look up. Suspended floral chandeliers or garlands strung across ceilings and tent canopies create a dreamy, garden-like ambience from above that immediately transports guests into an enchanted space. Combine these installations with fairylights or lanterns for added sparkle and warmth. These statement pieces not only elevate the visual aesthetic but also create magical photo moments your guests will remember for years to come. FLORAL TIPS & TRICKS • Opt for seasonal blooms that will not only ensure the freshest blooms for the big day but will save you money. • Always add texture with greenery or dried elements for depth. • Repurpose ceremony flowers throughout the day. • Add heirloom charms or meaningful flowers to your bouquet. • Choose a florist who understands your vision and specialises in your chosen style. Listen to the experts as they’ve seen it all! • Match your colour scheme to ensure a cohesive look. WEARING THE ROMANCE Beyond bouquets, florals can elevate your bridal look in delicate, wearable ways. Think flower crowns for a bohemian vibe, vines woven into updos, or subtle floral pins and clips for a romantic finish. For a vintage-inspired twist, floral corsages for bridesmaids or the mother-of-the-bride add meaning and beauty. Including mothers and grandmothers with floral wristlets or pins is a lovely way to honour them too. unsplash.com/@paupattersonphotography_ FLORAL DETAILS Carry your floral theme through every detail for a truly immersive experience. Pressed flowers or floral illustrations can be beautifully incorporated into your stationery suite, from save-the-dates to menus and thank-you cards, creating a cohesive and artistic touch that guests will admire and keep. unsplash.com/@kaboompics unsplash.com/@guilhermestecanella 38
unsplash.com/@alexanderafan THE FLOWER BAR Planning a garden party or outdoor reception? An open-air bar with floral-infused cocktails adds a refreshing and elegant twist to your celebration. Think rosemary gin fizz, lavender lemonade or a rosewater spritz, all bursting with flavour and floral notes. Garnish drinks with edible petals or citrus slices for a beautiful, Instagram-worthy flourish. Want to make it even more memorable? Hire a mixologist to run a mini cocktail workshop for your guests to add a fun, chic and interactive element. FAVOURS THAT BLOOM Give your guests a floral gift that grows and keeps your wedding day in their hearts long after the celebrations end. Seed packets with a sweet message like, “Let love grow”, are charming, meaningful favours that invite guests to nurture something beautiful in their own gardens. Or, go for ready-to-display potted plants with succulents, herbs or mini flowers in personalised pots that are practical, beautiful, and eco-friendly keepsakes. unsplash.com/@micheile FINAL THOUGHTS Flowers are more than decoration; they’re emotion made visible. They whisper stories, capture memories, and create atmospheres that linger long after the last dance. Whether you go grand or minimal, thoughtful floral choices will tie everything together, your venue, your vision and your values. By working with your florist, selecting seasonal blooms and repurposing arrangements creatively, you can craft a day that feels both unforgettable and uniquely yours. unsplash.com/@photos_by_lanty THE WEDDING CAKE Let your cake bloom too! Adorn it with edible or fresh flowers for a showstopping centrepiece that ties in seamlessly with your overall floral theme. Cascading florals offer drama and movement, while a simple cluster adds a charming, understated elegance. Just be sure any blooms used are safe for consumption or are removed before serving. For an extra special touch, consider incorporating delicate floral flavours like lavender, rose, elderflower, or orange blossom into your cake layers or frosting for something deliciously fragrant and memorable.
