budget,” Tash says. They booked it on the spot. Being able to walk between venues was a big plus. “I wanted to avoid travel and thought the walk would make for great photos, and it did. Some of my favourites were taken along the way!” Later, the pair wondered if the nearby cathedral might actually be an option. “We always loved it but assumed it was out of reach. After a bit of digging, we realised it was more affordable than we thought – decision made.” The team was warm and helpful, making the whole process feel truly special. PERSONAL DETAILS Tash kept the colour scheme simple and costs low, focusing on great food, drinks and a brilliant band. She chose faux flowers to keep long after the day, along with her bouquet from Edison & James and the bridesmaids’ bouquets from Dunelm, which were later reused as centrepieces. All signage was handmade by Tash and this looked incredible on the day. Catering was provided by The White Hart, featuring a hog roast and laid-back canapés, such as pizza slices, chip bowls and scotch eggs – all their favorites. LOOKING THE PART Tash found her dress in David’s Bridal closing-down sale after an earlier appointment didn’t feel right. She and her mum spent the day trying on dresses until she found the one, later altered by a local tailor. “I’m not very girlie, so finding a dress was tough,” the bride says. “It had to suit both the cathedral and the pub!” She wore a long veil for the ceremony, removing it for the reception. “I’m not into heavy make-up, but the beauty team were brilliant – we were even ahead of schedule.” The groomsmen wore casual blue suits with green ties and Etsy buttonholes, while the bridesmaids wore dark green dresses from Next. “The colour suited the venue and looked great on everyone. It was the first dress they tried, and they all loved it!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS A few special moemnts stood out to the couple. Walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time was an unforgettable. Another stand out moment was when the band surprised the couple by remixing their first dance song into a different version, sending the dancefloor into wild celebration – and the hog roast reveal was a showstopping. The live band played throughout the day, from arrival drinks and canapés to the evening party. The bride comments, “Everyone loved them, and the dancefloor was never empty!” “The whole day felt truly special! The speeches were great, the band was amazing and the ceremony was to die for. The venue suited us perfectly. It was everything we wished for and more; we would do it all over again in a heartbeat!” REAL WEDDINGS 27
