Magic moments The Pear Tree in Purton was styled with a shabby-chic theme and decorated with sage-green and blush-pink accents for Jenny and Thomas’s wedding Images courtesy of Libby Clark Photography Jenny and Thomas met at the University of Kent in 2007 where they lived in the same halls of residence. “Our friendship grew as we discovered that we shared a similar taste in music and humour,” Jenny tells us. “We went our separate ways when Jenny decided to go and teach in China for four years,” Thomas adds. “During this time, we stayed in touch with Skype calls and messages, despite the time difference, and a year after she returned to the UK, we officially got back together in 2015.” The couple became engaged in February 2020 during a trip to Dublin. “We’d spent the day exploring the city and I planned to propose at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin because Saint Patrick’s Day is the date of our anniversary,” Thomas explains. “This didn’t materialise due to the number of tourists that were there! Later that evening, to Jenny’s surprise, I asked her to marry me in the privacy of our room. I had booked a table at the Michelin-starred Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud to celebrate.” Here, Jenny and Thomas tell us about their celebration decorated with a sage-green and blush-pink theme at The Pear Tree in Purton. Jennifer (Jenny) and Thomas Whiting married on 17th March 2022 at The Pear Tree in Purton, Wiltshire. REAL WEDDINGS 29
