Your Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Wedding - June/July 2022 (Issue 33)

LOVIN’ Al fresco Get married in the great outdoors OXLEAZE BARN, LECHLADE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE Oxleaze is a family-run sustainable and organic working farm with cows, horses, chickens, ducks and dogs. It’s situated off the beaten track deep in the countryside, five miles from Lechlade and seven miles from Burford. The barns have been lovingly restored to create a rustic wedding venue with accommodation for up to 12 guests spread between Stable Cottage and the recently converted Dutch Barn. The Main Barn was previously a grain store and dates back to the 1700s. It’s a beautiful space with exposed beams, stone flooring, a feature fireplace, pale pink rendered walls and doors that open on to the landscaped courtyard. The Milling Barn also boasts exposed beams along with a wooden floor and doors that open on to a small courtyard. Both barns have underfloor heating produced from the biomass system on the farm creating a warm, cosy feel during the winter months. The pretty courtyard opens on to a patio area perfect for a summer drinks reception with steps leading up to a grassy area revealing a firepit, also ideal for al fresco celebrations. At night, the courtyard and garden are lit with romantic festoon lighting. Ceremonies take place in the Milling Barn for up to 90 guests or in the Main Barn for up to 120 loved ones while the Courtyard and The Wed Shed both hold up to 120 people. Receptions can take place across The Main Barn, The Milling Barn and the Courtyard for up to 150 guests in total. Ceremony licence? Summer celebrations can make the most of the great outdoors with garden games, al fresco drinks, hay bales and firepits. During the colder months, the interior of the tipis looks cosy dressed with fairylights, sheepskin rugs and blankets. Menu choices to complement a tipi wedding can be anything from fine dining to a grazing table set-up. Outdoor barbecues, wood-fired pizza ovens and street food vans are other great alternatives, as are mobile horsebox bars. On a warm evening, guests can gather around the firepit toasting marshmallows while enjoying a firework display. A selection of tipis and sizes are available for hire with two giant hat tipis recently added to the offering. A single structure seats up to 60 guests and multiple tipis can be linked together to create more space. There’s the option of adding a snug, catering tent and a separate smaller tipi as a children’s play area.
