Your East Midlands Wedding - June./July 2022 (Issue 50)

FEELING THE HEAT I’m getting married in July and given the soaring summer temperatures in recent years, I’m worried about overheating in my gown. What should I bear in mind when dress shopping? Being open minded helps when deciding the right dress for your wedding. Soft, romantic A-lines or column styles are definitely the way forward for brides worrying about overheating in their gowns. Anything with too many layers such as ballgown styles, especially in heavy fabrics such as thick Mikado, can add extra weight to the gown. Tighter fitted dresses can sometimes be more restrictive and cause chaffing. Some designers such as Madi Lane Bridal have beautiful satin linings in them designed to keep you cool, while ÉLYSÉE gowns have lovely stretch linings meaning it’s easier to walk and sit in. Justin Alexander also has lovely lightweight crepe styles, which are easy to walk in but still look just as fabulous as other gowns. I’m absolutely loving this year’s bridal make-up trend: neutral tones, bronzed cheeks with dewy skin – modern meets soft glam! These tones are perfect for all skin tones too, so there’s a version for everyone. Skin Flawless skin is definitely on trend. Fresh and youthful looks are popular instead of matte finishes. It’s all about the glow think: dewy foundations and highlighters in golden tones to accentuate your skin. Don’t go too heavy with the products, as they can cause flashback on your photographs. Eyes Fluffy and fuller brows are popular, giving that laminated effect along with chocolate eyeliner rather than black to complement this look and define your eyes! If you’re lucky enough to have great eye space, then an eyeliner flick is also on trend this year. Add sparkle to your eyeshadow on the lid with golden tones to match the neutral colours; and don’t forget lashes. Fluffy lashes, especially accent lashes which get longer towards the outer corner of the eye, are big this year and helps to create that cat-eye effect! Lips A deep nude lip tone adds to the modern soft glam look perfectly. Or for spring/summer weddings, a pink lip will brighten your look, it’s timeless and never goes out of fashion – remember to add a gloss too!
