Your East Midlands Wedding - June./July 2022 (Issue 50)

MEMORABLE MOMENTS With so many standout moments from the big day, the happy couple found it hard to narrow down but Martin shares: “Christine’s very organised and with her staying over at the Petwood Hotel with bridesmaid Stacey on the night prior to the wedding, I remained at home having been entrusted with the heavy responsibility of making sure that her three sons were suited and booted on time. Best man Steve lives just around the corner, and he walked round to offer moral support. Being a talented guitarist, he kept up morale by strolling around the house playing my guitar while the finishing touches and final tie straightening was attended to. Having been friends for years and having learned to fly gliders together, he very kindly gave me a pair of glider cufflinks in an engraved case!” Christine’s memorable moment occurred while her dad was giving her away, “He was asked ‘who gives Christine away today?’ and was quietly prompted by the registrar to say “I do”. Dad hesitated a bit not wanting to make an error, thinking that he might be inadvertently getting the groom’s lines by mistake! “Martin’s father, aged 89, has had health issues and Christine’s father had just had a quadruple heart bypass and contracted Covid while in hospital recovering – he was very unwell for a time. Fortunately, he then recovered and was given a round of applause by the staff when he was discharged. It was important to us both to have our parents at our wedding and for my father to give me away. This was a precious moment captured well on our photographer’s wonderful pictures.” 39 REAL WEDDINGS
