Q&A Fashion and beauty Look your big-day best with top expert advice ALL ABOUT THAT BASE I suffer with acne, but I want a flawless base for our summer wedding. How can I achieve this? Don’t panic because acne is very common, and your make-up artist will still have the right products to create a flawless base. Always discuss your skin concerns with the supplier before your make-up trial. Acne is more prone in ladies due to hormones, and most of us have an outbreak or two at some point. The problem appears when hair follicles become blocked, and the areas often become oily as our skin tries to compensate for the issue by overproducing an oil called sebum. It’s essential to cleanse and moisturise your skin, even if you suffer from spots, to help prevent scarring. Using a moisturiser with a good SPF throughout summer also helps reduce the signs of premature ageing. What should I keep in mind when dress shopping? At each appointment we always consider the bride’s venue, the time of year the wedding is taking place and most importantly, how the client wants to feel on her wedding day. For a summer wedding, try on a selection of gowns made from light fabrics with flowing layers. If you’re swaying more towards a ballgown or a fuller dress, wear an underskirt to help support the material so you won’t feel hot and can enjoy the day. Soft boho-style dresses are popular for summer weddings at the minute, and offer a modern twist with just as much wow factor. If you’re looking for something less traditional, a lightweight crepe skirt and crop top from our Ella Kate range would be perfect.
