Q&A Fashion & beauty Our experts give their advice to help you look your big-day best FASHION-FORWARD My fiancé is much taller than me – what dress style would you recommend for a shorter bride to give the illusion of height? All good things come in small packages, so don’t stress about your height as there are lots of ways we can help you appear taller. Choosing a dress with the same fabric throughout the whole design will help give the illusion of height and elongate your figure. The good news is that these dresses are very much on-trend this season. Also, vertical seams on a plain dress creates a lengthening effect. If you’re looking for a fuller skirt and are drawn towards princess/ ballgown-style dresses, have a look at a high-waisted A-line dress which, similarly, will make your legs appear much longer. Having shorter hair does limit your style choices slightly, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have different options on your special day! Your choice will depend on how short your hair is. If you have a pixie-style cut, you can blow dry your hair while adding movement and texture with a wax spray or why not create a quaffed style? If your hair is slightly longer on top, add soft curls for a whimsical look or tighter curls for an edgier option. Accessories are your best friend when it comes to pixie cuts, a flower crown, birdcage veil or a decorative hair slide all look fabulous with short styles. If you have shoulder-length hair, you might be surprised by the options available for you. A soft curl or boho waves either down or styled into a cute half-up hairstyle always looks great – add a braid to add some extra detail. Depending on your hair texture, there are a few options for a low up do. Keep the design low into the neck so it’s easily secured while having the illusion of a lot more hair.
