Nic and Tom first crossed paths in a nightclub in Cambridge. After Nic lost track of her friends, she found herself at the bar striking up a conversation with Tom. The couple connected instantly, and from that chance meeting, their relationship blossomed. Tom proposed during a stay in a shepherd’s hut in the Brecon Beacons. Nic recalls, “We’d had a mad idea to hike up Pen y Fan at sunrise, which meant a very early start and climbing in the dark. I tried to derail the plan that morning as I really couldn’t face it, but Tom was determined. I soon found out why when he got down on one knee at the summit as the sun rose in front of us. It was absolutely magical.” When it came to choosing a wedding venue, the couple viewed several but struggled to find the right fit. “I wanted somewhere near Cambridge with a ceremony licence, that was exclusive use for the whole weekend, surrounded by nature, and with different spaces for each part of the day,” says Nic. “I was beginning to panic until I stumbled across Happy Valley Norfolk on Instagram and instantly knew it was the one. I honestly can’t recommend it enough.” To bring their vision to life, Nic and Tom chose a colour palette of sage green with burnt orange, pink and lilac accents. “I found it hard to settle on a colour scheme,” Nic explains, “but I was inspired by the flowers we had chosen from The WildFolk Florist and built everything around that.” One of Nic’s favourite elements was the disco room in the Hay Barn, transformed by Boomting Bunting with draping, disco balls and a sequin DJ backdrop. “Georgia from Boomting Bunting was amazing at bringing my ideas to life,” she adds. Array Wedding & Event Hire provided outdoor furniture, rattan chairs and garden games, while The Banqueting Hire Service supplied the tableware and linen. REAL WEDDINGS 35
