Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming – I imagine you’re either embracing the chaos or dreading it. Either way, take a deep breath and remember: this day is all about the two of you. The little details are wonderful ways to make the day personal, but ultimately, it’s your vows and the fact that you can say “I do” that will matter most. Whether your vision includes personal touches, bold, bright colours, or sustainable options, there’s no right or wrong way to plan your wedding. It’s all about creating a day that reflects your style while staying within your budget. Still feeling a little lost? Don’t worry – we’ve put together a feature packed with the latest trends, helpful timelines, and plenty of tips. Think of us as your new planning BFF! Kate Pigeon-Owen, CEO and Wellbeing Consultant at Wellbeing International, shares more about the experience: “The How to Awaken Refreshed day offers a deep dive into the art of sleeping well, helping you understand how and why sleep patterns shift throughout life, and how to make simple, practical changes that allow you to wake up feeling truly refreshed and restored.” Discover more at riverhills.co.uk TREND SETTER Suffolk’s Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa has been hosting weddings for over 60 years, offering couples a four AA red star boutique hotel setting in which to celebrate the day of their dreams. Blending historic charm with contemporary elegance, the hotel features 80 beautifully appointed rooms and a separate Mews, rich in original character and offering the perfect balance of modern luxury and refined comfort. Over the decades, the hotel’s experienced team has seen countless wedding trends come and go, yet timeless luxury and exceptional service never go out of style. Drawing on this wealth of experience, the team at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa has revealed its top predictions for weddings in 2026. The team believe couples are embracing maximalism, celebrating colour, and moving away from overly themed or ‘Pinterest-perfect’ weddings. Instead, they are opting for local luxury and celebrations closer to home, favouring relaxed elegance, and delighting guests with an array of indulgent sweet treats. For more information, visit bedfordlodgehotel.co.uk Drink it all in Adnams’ Saffron Walden store is now home to a new collection of fine and rare wines, launched through a partnership with East Anglian business Private Cellar. Perfect as a wedding gift, the partnership brings together two businesses that have been connected for many years and share a belief that fine wine should be accessible and enjoyable, rather than reserved solely for collectors. Laura from Private Cellar commented: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with Adnams to bring our fine wines, and the people and stories behind them, into the retail space. Their knowledgeable sales team has hit the ground running with our initial selection, and we look forward to expanding and developing the range alongside Lydia and her team.” For more information, visit privatecellar.co.uk unsplash.com/@gettyimages lizgreenhalgh.co.uk unsplash.com/@gettyimages 8

FULL BLOOM A love in Char and Chris’ wedding at Somerleyton Hall was a joyful celebration of love and nature Images courtesy of Georgia Rachael Photography Char and Chris met at a murder mystery party and felt an instant spark. Chris tells us, “I tried to kiss her in a nightclub after the party, but she promptly rejected me. I did manage to get her number though, and we went on a date later that weekend and never looked back.” Chris proposed to Char on a skiing trip with friends to Val d’Isère in France. He had planned to take her to the Eye of the Needle, an iconic rock formation overlooking Tignes, but the weather dramatically turned and it took them hours to descend. Chris adds, “Later that evening, I popped the question beneath a button lift on a quiet walk. Not quite the pictureperfect proposal we had imagined, but it was just right for us.” The couple explored wedding venues across Italy and the South of France, but in the end felt drawn closer to home. While visiting Char’s parents, they drove past St Mary’s Church and Somerleyton Hall and knew they had found somewhere they could return to time and time again. Chris explains, “Somerleyton Hall didn’t need a theme, and in keeping with the hall’s love of nature, sustainability and rewilding, we chose a beautifully green feel for the day – using plants rather than flowers wherever possible and gifting them to our guests after the weekend.” Char and Chris turned their day into a weekend-long affair, and on the Friday they welcomed their closest friends and family with Champagne, gifted to them at their engagement party. Chris recalls, “We were incredibly lucky to have Brasted’s provide the catering for us. Sian and her team were amazing — from the Ottolenghi-style supper on Friday evening, to the oysters at the reception drinks, and their special sorbet cone palate cleansers at the wedding breakfast. The venison hog roast on Sunday was the perfect, relaxed ending to the weekend.” Char wore a dress and veil by Louise Selby paired with Manolo Blahnik shoes, while the bridesmaids chose elegant designs from Nobody’s Child. To delight their guests, the couple offered drinks as everyone wandered through Somerleyton Hall’s walled garden. A pianist played during the reception, and individual poems were hidden on the back of each menu, waiting to be discovered. Espresso martinis on exit from the wedding breakfast kept spirits high, before fireworks lit up the evening and Chris’ brother-in-law’s band, The City Suits, took to the stage. The highlight of the day for the couple was standing together at the altar. Chris says, “The church was so joyful – looking back and seeing all your guests beaming their love towards you. As we left, Char cheekily jumped into the driver’s seat of the car, before we swapped for a second victory lap around the Somerleyton Hall estate, passing the bridesmaids riding in the back of the shoot truck. We shared a quiet moment together in the library before greeting our guests as a married couple, which felt incredibly special. Before the wedding breakfast, I made a disastrous attempt to open a bottle of Champagne, and Char had to step in and show me how it was done – an iconic moment.” As planning a wedding can be stressful, Chris shares his top tip: “When we curated the order of events, we thought carefully about how we wanted to feel, and how we wanted our guests to feel at every moment – even down to small things like having plenty of water at the church. Walking through everything beforehand gave us complete peace of mind. On the day itself, forget it all, put your phones away and simply enjoy it – you’ll be in safe hands.” REAL WEDDINGS 23

Nic and Tom first crossed paths in a nightclub in Cambridge. After Nic lost track of her friends, she found herself at the bar striking up a conversation with Tom. The couple connected instantly, and from that chance meeting, their relationship blossomed. Tom proposed during a stay in a shepherd’s hut in the Brecon Beacons. Nic recalls, “We’d had a mad idea to hike up Pen y Fan at sunrise, which meant a very early start and climbing in the dark. I tried to derail the plan that morning as I really couldn’t face it, but Tom was determined. I soon found out why when he got down on one knee at the summit as the sun rose in front of us. It was absolutely magical.” When it came to choosing a wedding venue, the couple viewed several but struggled to find the right fit. “I wanted somewhere near Cambridge with a ceremony licence, that was exclusive use for the whole weekend, surrounded by nature, and with different spaces for each part of the day,” says Nic. “I was beginning to panic until I stumbled across Happy Valley Norfolk on Instagram and instantly knew it was the one. I honestly can’t recommend it enough.” To bring their vision to life, Nic and Tom chose a colour palette of sage green with burnt orange, pink and lilac accents. “I found it hard to settle on a colour scheme,” Nic explains, “but I was inspired by the flowers we had chosen from The WildFolk Florist and built everything around that.” One of Nic’s favourite elements was the disco room in the Hay Barn, transformed by Boomting Bunting with draping, disco balls and a sequin DJ backdrop. “Georgia from Boomting Bunting was amazing at bringing my ideas to life,” she adds. Array Wedding & Event Hire provided outdoor furniture, rattan chairs and garden games, while The Banqueting Hire Service supplied the tableware and linen. REAL WEDDINGS 35

The Modern Table catered for the day. “Liz and her team were incredible, especially given how hot it was,” says Nic. Guests enjoyed canapés, followed by a rustic, family-style Italian wedding breakfast with sharing platters, and flatbreads in the evening. The cake, created by Bakes with Joy, was a vintagestyle two-tier design in sage green and orange, with flavours of chocolate and sea salt caramel, and pistachio and raspberry. Nic wore the Quartz dress by Lucy Can’t Dance, with custom additions including an embellished belt and cuffs, paired with the Florence veil dipdyed lilac. “I was instantly smitten,” she recalls. “I’d thought I wanted a full sequin dress, but they felt too heavy. The Quartz dress was the perfect balance – sparkly but lightweight, with a beautiful low back. When I tried it on, my mum burst into tears, which sealed the deal.” Tom wore a bespoke navy threepiece suit by Trotter & Deane, finished with a sage green polka dot tie. After the speeches, folk musician Nick Hart led a ceilidh that filled the dancefloor and set the tone for the evening. This was followed by the first dance, cake cutting and a lively disco, with Nic and Tom even taking to the decks themselves. “One of my favourite touches was the confetti cannons on the dancefloor,” Nic adds. With many guests staying on-site, the celebrations stretched into a joyful weekend, ending with bacon sandwiches and coffee together on Sunday morning. “There were so many unforgettable moments,” says Nic. “Walking through the woods with my dad and seeing Tom waiting for me in the sunshine is a feeling I’ll treasure forever. We loved the quiet moments we stole together too, just letting it all sink in. The whole day made us feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people.” 36

A modern Set within the historic Elms Barn, this styled shoot reimagines classic wedding elegance through a modern monochrome lens, pairing refined florals, soft textures, and cinematic moments with rustic charm BARN ROMANCE Inspired by the elegance of a classic black-tie celebration blended with the rustic charm of an English country barn, this styled shoot at Elms Barn was designed to feel both attainable and timeless. Coordinated by Rhianna of Magical Moments Content Creation, with support from wedding director Ruth, the vision came to life through refined florals, soft textures, and an understated monochrome palette that balanced romance with authenticity. Photography was led by Samantha Jayne Photography, who crafted a cohesive visual story, alongside cinematic coverage by David Flynn Films. Additional photography was captured by Juliet Cookson in the morning and David Flynn later in the day, ensuring every detail was thoughtfully documented. Elms Barn’s historic setting provided a striking backdrop for Silverline Limousines & Wedding Car’s vintage Beauford, while gowns and tailoring from Pure Brides and Pure Suits brought effortless sophistication. Floral designs by Norfolk Dreamscapes and Elms Barn added texture and romance throughout the shoot, from abundant bouquets to intimate portraits. A standout moment featured Botanical Gem’s floral-adorned drink tower, accented with disco balls, elegant glassware, and signature cocktails from Elms Barn’s bar, followed by a joyful champagne spray on the terrace in the golden afternoon light. Inside, the barn was transformed with white draping by Authentic Charm, candlelit ambience, sparkling tableware from The Banqueting Hire Service, stationery by Rachael Bull Design, and a timeless single-tier cake by The Dark Romance Cakery. The bridal look was completed by Laura Howard Hair & Makeup Artistry and By Bethany Ellen Taylor, whose polished yet natural styling photographed beautifully from day to dusk. It’s all on Weddings now have curated Instagram posts alongside big-day albums The newest wedding trend – content creation! But what is it? It’s like the love child of a videographer and your Insta-obssesed friend who’s always posting stories. Those who specialise in content creation create short digestible clips for you to post as reels on your feed or story. One UK venue is already delivering on that demand. The Post Barn, Berkshire’s award-winning contemporary wedding venue, has seen a 60 per cent rise in couples requesting content creators this year, and now officially offers in-house content creators as part of its wedding packages. “We saw it happening months ago. Couples want candid, unfiltered, and instantly shareable memories,” says Daisy Bradley, weddings and events director at the venue. “It’s no longer just about the photo album; it’s about the reels, the TikToks, the group chats. This is not a passing trend; it’s the new standard for how weddings are remembered.” Chloe North, social media manager at Donnington Valley Group and a part-time wedding content creator agrees, “Content creation is about preserving your wedding day’s energy in its most authentic form. The candid style complements polished photography with something more casual and personal. It captures all the unfiltered, behind-the-scenes moments you might otherwise miss.” Unlike videographers, who produce cinematic, long-form edits, content creators focus on short, spontaneous clips designed for social media. They often deliver curated reels and raw footage within 24 to 72 hours, giving couples instant access to relive their day. Chloe notes that content creation adds an intimate, spontaneous layer to the storytelling of your day. It’s about fastturnaround, ready-made reels that let you relive and share the moments immediately, even with guests who couldn’t attend. Chloe adds, “we’re seeing couples carve out time during their day just to film TikToks! Gen Z cares about intention and authenticity. They’re not just planning a wedding, they’re planning a story that reflects who they are, and they want it documented in the same spirit.” However, Chloe cautions that hiring a content creator should be a considered decision, stating that they are not replacements for videographers. Videographers create polished, cinematic films including vows and speeches, while content creators focus on short-form, social-ready clips. With this emerging role, it’s vital to research thoroughly, check portfolios, read reviews, clarify their process, and make sure they collaborate well with your photographer and suppliers.
