Your East Anglian Wedding - June/July 2025 (Issue 73)

STEP 6: PARTY TIME! The beauty of getting married outside is that you have much more freedom when it comes to games. With the added space, you can spread out, make it a little more athletic and go big! With indoor weddings, you’re restricted when it comes to having space and if you’re in an older building, you don’t want to risk damaging anything. Having fun outside immediately removes this pressure and enables you to let your hair down. There are lots of things you can do outside for games, and these will only get better the more you drink. CHECKLIST: Here’s a short list of other things you may want to tick off before the big day. •Tablecloth weights •Marquee •Umbrellas (large and small) •Bonfires/blankets •Suncream •Rented bathrooms if one isn’t available at venue •Hand fans and bottled water •Microphone PA systems •Wedding games •Check there are no sporting events happening in the same town as the wedding This may all seam daunting, but when you break it down into steps, then it becomes easier to approach the planning head on. At the end of the day, it’s all about having some fun with your loved ones and legally joining your soulmate – don’t sweat the small stuff! STEP 7: WEDDING DAY COMFORT Regardless of location, you want your wedding day to be as comfortable as possible for you, your partner and your loved ones. For an outdoor wedding, you need to ensure you have an electric supply for things like lights, sound systems, drink coolers, etc. This can sometimes be an overlooked feature, so make sure you get it signed off straight away. For when it gets to the evening, have some heaters ready and blankets should it get really chilly. If it’s the height of summer, then I’m sure people will welcome a cool breeze! On that note, have some insect repellent ready should you get an influx of mosquitos when the sun goes down. We want to leave the wedding with memories, not bites. A classy way of keeping these buzzing wedding crashers out is with some citronella candles – they blend in and will deter any excessive mosquitos. For the bride, I would take some extra time picking your wedding shoes; terrain that differs from the halls of a lavish house may pose some logistical issues. You don’t want to roll your ankle on your special day! Finally, if you are getting married on the beach, double check high tide times so you don’t get washed away in anything other than your tears of joy. OUTDOOR WEDDINGS 53
