Now, it’s quite the milestone year for me for two reasons: I’m reaching the big 4.0 and I’ve been working in the world of wedding for 20 years! Wow – where has that time gone? Luckily for me, I still love my job and the industry, it’s a close-knit community that support and champion each other. It’s an important role, being a part of someone’s wedding day, and there’s not a supplier I haven’t met that doesn’t value, respect and enjoy being involved in a couple’s nuptials. From the cake maker that has lovingly spent hours icing the perfect petals on to each tier, to the stationery designer that has hand-drawn the venue for your invites; the DJ that’s spent late nights planning the perfect playlist for you, to the seamstress that’s painstakingly hand-sewn pearls on your veil – local suppliers really do go above and beyond for every wedding, every couple, because they simply love what they do and know how important it is to you both. Because of this passion, I still get excited every issue about the different things I come across, a new favour idea, a real wedding couple doing things differently, or an unusual first dance song, I still love it all – and I’m still surprised by couples, suppliers and love, all know no bounds. Here’s to another 20 years, hip hip hooray! Happy reading An emerald aisle ISSN 2052-0514 Your East Anglian Wedding is solely owned, published and designed by Ellis Media and Events Ltd. The exterior boasts a south-facing paved courtyard with surrounding granary barns greeting you on arrival. The gardens of the thatched Suffolk farmhouse have flowerbeds and trees, arches and hedges, a pond and Medieval moat – ample opportunities for photos! There’s an acre-and-a-half paddock fronting the venue, with wildflowers and walkways, a peaceful and serene gem with Suffolk countryside views. A lovely combination of black weatherboard and painted render heritage buildings, with lighting throughout; the barn has original rustic features and modern facilities – power, heating, PA system and Wi-Fi essentials for a perfect setting for weddings. Sancroft Barns holds a ceremony licence at various locations: the main barn seats 115 guests, the marquee seats 125, and the paddock holds 120 on chairs and straw bales, and other areas of the venue are available by arrangement. For receptions the marquee seats a maximum of 135 guests and the barn can hold 40 loved ones. The summer marquee is lined, with a carpeted floor, a clear and roll-up side, and also has power and PA system. Being a dry hire venue, the couple can get exactly the caterer and bar of their choice. Additionally, this exclusive-use venue ensures you’ll be the only wedding party with 48-hour access to the property. You can arrive from as early as midday before the wedding and leave midday after your wedding day – plenty of time the following morning before the breakdown begins! THE WEDDING BARN AT OLD HALL 07771 644 522 | https://oldhallweddingbarn.com The Wedding Barn at Old Hall is a beautiful Grade II Listed traditional Suffolk barn that has been lovingly restored. From a distance and up close, The Wedding Barn is an impressive building that exudes history and authenticity. Its timber frame construction is clad with black weather boarding and footed by characterful flint and brick walls. Couples can enjoy the use of the charming courtyard with its pretty rose-covered pergola and colourful flowerbeds. Its interiors feature charming flint walls, majestic beams and a 21ft-high ceiling, giving the barn a rustic cathedral-like feel. Its two large doublefronted doors can be thrown open to reveal glass bi-folding doors, allowing guests to fully enjoy both the interior and exterior of the barn itself. Ceremonies can take place either in the barn for up to 120 guests or in the courtyard, and receptions (150) can be held in the courtyard or in the outdoor spaces. Inside the barn is a large, fully staffed bar, dancefloor, and PA system. The ceiling boasts three large hoops on pulleys, that are often adorned with an array of fabulous blooms and foliage. The grounds feature a sweet shepherd’s hut, which acts as a bridal boudoir for changing into an evening dress, or simply getting five minutes of peace and quiet during the day! There’s also a meadow to use as you wish, where previous weddings have set up a mini-golf course, bouncy castle, entertainment, or used as a backdrop for an outdoor bar area. SHIMPLING PARK BARNS 01284 827 317 | https://shimplingparkfarm.co.uk Shimpling Park Barns has striking views of the property’s surrounding land boasting a beautiful west-facing woodland, lake, and elegant gardens; it’s a haven for evocative photography with Victorian red brick and flint buildings also creating the perfect backdrop. Inside the rustic, soft red brick façades of the two stunning barns you’ll find vintage interiors; the barn complex is set in the middle of an organic farm with three enclosed courtyards, for mingling, dining or dancing – couples can rest assured there’s plenty of space whatever the weather! Although the venue doesn’t hold a ceremony licence, a celebrant-led ceremony can be held next to the lake or inside the barn, followed by a reception in either of the two barns or using any of the three courtyards – numbers are 80 for the wedding breakfast and 150 for the reception. If you choose this venue, then you are welcomed for a pre-wedding photo shoot with your chosen photographer – a brilliant way for you to get to know your supplier and to explore the venue further. WAXHAM BARN info@waxhambarnweddings.co.uk | www.waxhambarnweddings.co.uk Located roughly a five-minute walk from Waxham Beach, the Grade I listed Waxham Barn is surrounded by rolling countryside. It’s a spacious characteristic barn with brick and flint walls, exposed beams and vaulted ceilings, all the rustic touches and charm you would expect from a historic barn! Boasting a large courtyard area with an undercover cart shed and vehicle access for wedding cars, there’s a large car park to facilitate wedding guests. The courtyard is the ideal place to extend your celebrations outside, as well as providing the perfect spot for garden games, food trucks and outdoor seating. It soaks up the sun all day and provides the best place to watch as the sun sets over the surrounding fields. For vows, the ceremony room – for up to 150 guests – has brick and flint exposed walls and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams; it’s attached to the main barn and has large barn doors that open onto the courtyard area, allowing for guests to enter directly into the ceremony room. Its main barn is the heart of the wedding, with an island bar situated in the middle of the large space, dividing the barn into pockets. The wedding breakfast area is normally located at the top end of the barn, whilst couples tend to place music entertainment at the bottom – this transforms the barn into a free-flowing space that keeps guests together to enjoy the celebrations with up to 250 reception guests. The large barn doors are a statement piece and can often be found open in the evening for couples and their guests to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun. CHURCH MANOR BARN 01953 603 418 | https://churchmanorbarn.co.uk Church Manor Barn is rooted in Norfolk’s landscape. Originally used as a traditional farm building until 2012 when it was refurbished into a beautiful wedding venue. Its grand glass frontage is perfect for enjoying Norfolk’s beautiful scenery. Nearby lies an orchard, a dovecote, and a tapestry of gardens – each a perfect setting to capture memories. The entire estate is now powered by its own energy sources; solar panels and a wind turbine supply electricity, with solar thermal and ground source heat pumps that provide heating and hot water. Seven hundred trees were planted many years ago to establish woodland; and the Golden Pheasant was introduced onto the estate in 2016 to help increase population! Ceremonies take place outside in the Secret Garden, or inside the barn itself – if the weather doesn’t allow for an al fresco ceremony – both accomodate up to 200 guests. Post-vows, inside the large barn (up to 250), sheltered beneath highquality marquee linings, couples will find everything they need: fairylights, an elegant bar, a stage for heartfelt speeches, and a dancefloor that beckons joyous revelry, whatever the weather outside. Beautiful toilets, including disabled toilets, make it very accessible and a large kitchen area can accommodate any caterer. When tying the knot here, couples benefit from a two-night stay in its luxury on site accommodation The Pheasantry. www.camillaandrea.com www.thebutterflyeffectimages.com www.camillaandrea.com 21 THEMED VENUES

It was a family affair for Tina and Spencer’s wedding day Tina and Spencer met through family years ago, but the timing wasn’t quite right, and it wasn’t until 2021 that their romance started. When they rekindled, it was an immediate connection! Tina recalls, “I was attracted to Spencer, obviously for his good looks, but mainly for his great sense of humour and how he always makes me laugh. He has such a kind heart and gives his all and is very romantic”. And Spencer says that it was Tina’s warm heart and caring nature that sealed the deal! When it came to popping the question, Spencer knew that there was only one place that would live up to the mark. There is a special spot in Cornwall, that Tina and Spencer have frequented many times, Kynance Cove. This spot is Tina’s happy place and Spencer knew it had to be the place he asked Tine to become his wife. Spencer proposed on 5th September 2022 and Tina, of course, couldn’t refuse. The date was set for 7th June 2024 at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa. Here bride Tina tells us more... Finding the one 27 REAL WEDDINGS
Mylee, Spencer’s 11-year-old daughter, was our bridesmaid and she wore an ivory three-quarter-length lace dress from Monsoon. She read a poem at the start of the ceremony which she chose herself. I wore an ivory lace dress with a sweetheart neckline that came with a lace cover-up jacket, it was stunning! My shoes were made with Australian satin, and they were finished with pearls over the foot part – all handmade! To finish the look, Spencer gifted me a Tiffany bracelet. Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa was the one for us, the look of the outside was lovely, not too big but grand enough for our wedding. The people were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, and they were always happy to answer all of our questions. Spencer wore a navy three-piece suit from Moss Bross, with a white shirt and grey tie, complete with black patent shoes. The best man, Paul, wore the same to give a cohesive look. 28
My bouquet was made up of blush pink roses with gypsophila, pampas grass a little greenery with some small ivory roses. Melisa from Party Maklary also made the seating plan, which was placed outside by the doors for guests to see as they arrived. On the right-hand corner Melisa had done a small arrangement of greenery. We used Melisa from Party Malarky for the decoration of the venue; she was brilliant and didn’t stop until we were happy. On the entrance of the ceremony room, she made up a welcome sign featuring white and silver balloons with greenery threaded through. It was stunning and definitely had the wow factor! The cake was made by Spencer’s friend, Karen Dixon, who lives in our hometown of Bishop Stortford. The cake was three tiers with lemon and vanilla swiss meringue as one layer, chocolate and passionfruit for the second, and vanilla with strawberry jam on the top layer. It was a work of art! On the tables I went for silver candelabras, with ivy and blush flowers running down them with glowing artificial candles. The stationery was printed by Pure Invitation, and the invites were pale green with gold lettering. The top table’s stationery was done by Zazzle online, which were black with gold lettering. Top table flowers, the ones down the aisle, and the bunches dotted about, matched my bouquet but with more greenery and some small blush roses too. The buttonholes were blush roses with pampas grass and Spencer’s had gypsophila in it too. 29 REAL WEDDINGS

Just seeing so much love in the room, smiling faces from all our lovely guests, and the success of the day will stay with us forever. We both felt amazing, I was very calm thanks to my strong organisation skills. Spencer was very nervous, but both of us thoroughly enjoyed our day – not one thing went wrong! 30

Georgia and David had a beach-themed wedding Images courtesy of Liz Bishop NAUTICAL Georgia and David first met in 2014, however, after a few months of dating, Georgia had to move to Iceland for her master’s degree. They reconnected in 2019, and their love quickly blossomed into something special. With the impending lockdown in 2020, David moved in with Georgia so they could be together, and the rest is history! For David, he really liked the way Georgia felt comfortable with him, and this meant that they clicked almost instantly. For Georgia, she loved Davids’s sense of humour and how laid back he is. David decided to propose to Georgia during a holiday in Pembrokeshire, Wales in May 2023. He had planned to propose at the Elegug Stacks, however, due to military exercises this area of the coast path was closed. Spontaneously, he ended up proposing overlooking the coastline near Saint Govan with their dogs Millie and Maisie watching. The date was set for the 3rd February 2024 at Caley Hall Hotel. Here , bride Georgia tells us more... bliss REAL WEDDINGS 33
We were looking for a venue near the beach and we always walk our dogs at old Hunstanton beach, so Caley Hall Hotel was a perfect choice. It was spacious, light and the staff were so attentive we couldn’t resist. Our table names were the most important places to us including the village we live in. These were made from all the prosecco we had drunk as a couple, and with friends and family, since we got engaged – ours on the top table were from the accommodation we stayed at when we got engaged in Wales. I wanted a beach hut-shaped card box, which David built and I decorated. Our order of the day was on a larger version of the table plan surfboard, which David also made! We decided to do two favours, one to represent each of us. We bought mini bottles and filled these with David’s favourite rum, Old J spiced rum, while Georgia’s sister, Tessa, made personalised iced biscuits to represent Georgia’s love for baking. I had a vision of a miniature surfboard for the table plan, which David executed perfectly. This had mini pegs with the table plan attached and oyster shell decorations. 34
We decided to hire Reesey’s ice cream van (yes, I know ice cream in February...we must be mad!) for after the ceremony. They provided a great service and even came with dog-friendly ice cream. We had a live band called Under the Covers who performed a variety of songs and they were a big hit with guests – dancing to the music all the way to the end! It felt really magical. We made confetti pops using dried flowers and our photographer directed our guests to form a line each side of the courtyard to pop the confetti over us. I wanted sunflowers for my bouquet and hair, as well as for the dog collars and buttonholes. Hunstanton florists provided us with beautiful sunflowers, even when they were out of season! We decided we didn’t want a traditional three-tier cake, so we found someone who could make us a doughnut tower with a top cake. To represent us at the top, we had two deck chairs and a name topper; we also had clay figurines of our dogs, Millie licking the icing and Maisie trying to get to the top. We also provided cupcakes after the ceremony in our wedding colours of blue and white. These came in three glorious flavours from a local baker, Megs from Cakeaway, who we often get our sweet treats from. I created messages in bottles for the table names using sand, wine bottles, and tracing paper. The bridesmaids wore dusky blue, floor-length chiffon dresses. 35 REAL WEDDINGS
