Q&A Beauty Hot tips and make-up advice for summer brides HOT, HOT, HOT How can I prevent my make-up melting if the weather’s scorching on my wedding day? Sharron says: We’ve certainly had some hot days this summer. Although many brides pray for sunshine, especially if they’re getting married outside, you can have too much of a good thing, so it’s best to plan ahead. Here are a few handy hints to help you prepare and maintain a beautiful bridal glow: ❤ Splash your face with cold water to close the pores and wait ten minutes before you moisturise. ❤ Use a good primer suitable for your skin type. ❤ Opt for a less-is-more approach with lighter make-up rather than layers. ❤ Matte lipstick, waterproof mascara and eyeliner, sheer eyeshadow shades and translucent setting power are good for a longer-lasting, natural effect. ❤ Avoid too much highlighter as it can make you look more flushed and when the weather’s hot you get a natural glow anyway. ❤ Finish with a good setting spray. ❤ Have some battery-operated, hand-held fans available to keep you and your bridal party cool. ❤ Stay in the shade as much as possible and try not to touch your face too much. ❤ Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. How can I stay looking my bridal best for as long as possible? Emma says: Here are some top treatments and suggestion to help you feel like a million dollars post-wedding: ❤ LVL lash lift – this is a must! Low maintenance, it includes a tint for your lashes and lasts up to six to eight weeks. If you don’t want to bother with mascara while you’re away, then this is the way forward. ❤ HD brows – high definition brows are all about framing the face. I like to describe it as a brow MOT as the treatment is bespoke to you and includes a consultation on shape, waxing/threading and tinting to get the best result possible. ❤ Brow lamination (brow sculpt) – if you’re looking for fuller brows then this is the treatment for you. It lasts the same time as a LVL lash lift and makes brows appear fuller by stretching out the hairs and making them look fluffier. ❤ Everyone loves a holiday glow, so get a head start with some great tanning products. My favourites include Bondi Sands Liquid Gold Self Tanning Foam for a gorgeous, hydrating, natural-looking result. Garnier Ambre Solaire Natural Bronzer Self Tan Face Mist is a must too. Just spray your face at night and top up throughout the day to build a gorgeous, streak-free, natural glow. ❤ Don’t forget sun protection! La Roche-Posay SPF50 Anthelios Face Suncream is lightweight, doesn’t leave a white cast and is suitable for all skin tones and types. ❤ If you’re unsure what to choose, we offer personal shopping experiences and then show you how to apply your make-up and skincare products back at the studio.
