THREE’S COMPANY When Vanessa married Mark her pet bulldog came too Images courtesy of Adrian Marshall Photography The old saying ‘two’s company, three’s a crowd’ may be true for some couples, but not Vanessa and Mark. They got to know each other online and after chatting for a few weeks, when they arranged their first date Vanessa brought her pet bulldog Keef along too. “We met up and walked Keef together and hit it off straight away,” she recalls. Fast forward a few years and Mark was planning to propose on a romantic weekend away in the Lake District until Covid restrictions kicked in and they couldn’t go. Instead, he waited until moving home the week before lockdown at the end of March 2020. “Mark surprised me and got down on one knee on our first night in our new home,” reveals Vanessa. She said ‘yes’, of course, and they tied the knot on 21st May this year at St John’s Church, Beck Row, Bury St Edmunds, with Keef by their side. Surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated afterwards with a chilled reception at Mildenhall Social Club. Read on for Vanessa’s account of their big day… REAL WEDDINGS 43
