Your East Anglian Wedding - Page number 33 - August/September 2021 (Issue 50)

When we arrived at the barn Georgia was singing her heart out. She has an amazing voice and also plays the guitar. I hired Vivien, an amazing vintage fire engine from Wisbech, as a surprise for Tom. He has recently become a fulltime firefighter so it was very fitting for our special day. As the wedding was in June, we wanted plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the weather and the views didn’t disappoint either. I spent the run-up to our wedding trawling charity shops for candlesticks and vases for the tables. Postponing the big day for a whole year meant that I amassed quite a collection! It was not only great fun, but a way of giving to charity and added to the excitement of the day too. We loved the character of the barn, the spac e is fantastic and it was a blank canvas to make our own for the recep tion. Instead of traditional favours our guests picked a candlestick each to take home with them at the end of the night. We also made some homemade berry vodka which went down a treat. “We gave our bridesmaids birth flower bracelets as gifts and the flowergirls had heart necklaces personalised with their names and birth flowers.” “We loved having a smaller intimate wedding because it meant we were able to chat to each and every one of our guests and take our time throughout the day.” REAL WEDDING 33
