Sarah and Barnaby met on a dating app in 2021. “On our first date, we went for dinner and realised over a couple of bottles of rosé wine that we had plenty in common and never stopped laughing!” Sarah tells us. “It was Barnaby’s sense of humour and our shared love of food and wine that sealed it!” Barnaby proposed at the couple’s home in London on the front terrace. “Afterwards, we went to our favourite Chinese restaurant, Hunan, to celebrate,” Sarah tells us. “It was the day before my birthday so the following day we had a pre-planned birthday lunch with my parents, and Barnaby surprised me by inviting some friends, turning it into an early engagement party!” SETTING THE SCENE “Barnaby grew up in North Devon and I spent a lot of my childhood holidaying in South Devon and later on, during my late teens, my parents moved to Loddiswell so it has always been a county we both love, Sarah tells us. “We couldn’t think of a better place to get married than at Barnaby’s family home.” The couple styled their marquee reception with an elegant cream, green and pale pink colour theme. “We had been to several weddings and loved the idea of having long tables, so chose three along with a double-sided top table so that we could seat most of our wedding party at it,” Sarah tells us. “The table names were after places we love in Devon so Coulsworthy was our top table but we also had Putsborough, Valley of Rocks “One of Barnaby’s family friends who is just 14 years of age played the piano for our guests whilst we signed the Marriage Document.” - Sarah 37 REAL WEDDINGS
