Ellie and Tim met online and instantly hit it off during their first date at a local pub. “We discovered that we both shared a joint love of travelling, Christmas and good food and drink,” Ellie tells us. “Tim proposed during a trip to Peru as we were climbing Machu Picchu. It was a complete surprise - I had no idea!” SETTING THE SCENE Ellie and Tim chose Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage as their wedding venue because of the company’s ethos to local food and suppliers. “The team worked with us to design our bespoke wedding menu,” Ellie says. “Dishes included Lyme Bay scallops and River Cottage lamb – it tasted delicious!” The couple exchanged their personalised vows in the sunshine in the River Cottage garden surrounded by their close friends and family. “Ours was a small wedding of 44 guests and it was perfect,” Ellie says. Their decorative touches were mainly made by friends and family members and centred around local garden flowers arranged by Ellie’s mum using varieties from her garden. “Our beautiful centrepieces were created using local log slices topped with flowers and our delicious apple and lemon drizzle cake was also decorated with local blooms,” Ellie says. “Each table was named after an English tree and 25 REAL WEDDINGS
