We reveal where to wed MOUNT EDGCUMBE HOUSE AND COUNTRY PARK, TORPOINT Mount Edgcumbe House was originally designed to take full advantage of the surrounding landscape and is now a beautifully restored Tudor-style property with carved granite facings and round turrets at each corner. One of only three Grade I listed landscapes in the South West, Mount Edgcumbe covers more than 860 acres and boasts far-flung views over Plymouth Sound. The Earls Garden Summer House for outdoor ceremonies for up to 120 guests commands an elevated position overlooking the East Lawn with views stretching across Plymouth Sound towards Plymouth Hoe and the Dartmoor hills beyond. There are additional outdoor spaces in and around the Earl’s Garden also available for ceremonies. Receptions take place in the light and airy marquee seating up to 150 guests and accommodating more than 200 loved ones in the evening. It’s nestled in the exclusive Earl’s Garden offering the modern comforts of a reinforced glass structure with exclusive private gardens for guests to enjoy. This flexible option allows couples to plan their day as they wish with the caterers, bar and bands of their choice. There’s a buggy service available for guests who arrive at the park on the foot ferry from Plymouth, bringing them through the stunning gardens to the ceremony at the house before whisking them to their reception venue at the Orangery afterwards. BRIDLE & GROOM WEDDINGS LTD, LISKEARD Blackwater Farm is located a few yards along a farm track, sprinkled with delicate country flowers. It’s a working farm, with tame sheep, baying donkeys and wandering ducks and chickens. For something romantic, white doves fly against the far distant farmland and woodland views. Hidden at the heart of the farm is a unique venue with a licensed woodland lawn for up to 100 guests to gather for the ceremony. It’s located next to the Garden Wedding Room that holds up to 60 loved ones. This is a calm and serene space with a rustic beamed ceiling and a raised stage for the couple to stand on to exchange their vows. The Grand Marquee accommodates up to 100 guests and offers a large, airy space under a vintage canvas that’s lit with festoon lighting and three chandeliers. The wedding feast is hosted in the marquee for up to 120 guests seated and up to 150 loved ones for the evening buffet. All packages include catering, with either a Cornish farm fayre menu or a Blackwater hog roast menu with meat served from the farm. Packages also include evening food, pasties, Blackwater sausage rolls and a large cheeseboard with fruit. For couples looking for an authentically rustic farm with high eco-standards and a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place for them. The far-flung views from the venue stretch across farm fields that are home to grazing sheep and donkeys.
