Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - September/October 2023 (Issue 45)

After the ceremony, Mike and I visited a field which overlooked the farm to have our couple portraits taken. It was lovely to spend some time together with just our photographer and videographer because it felt like we didn’t see each other much during the evening reception. I wanted to host our reception at my parent’s farm so we could dance and party the night away - and it meant that our dog, Honey the vizslador could join us! The grounds of Bickleigh Castle provided a magical backdrop for some of our big-day photographs. We were both so excited to get married. I felt nervous during the ceremony - mainly because I knew that all eyes were on us. The chandeliers, fireplace and artwork in the Great Hall provided such a romantic and historical setting for our ceremony. I loved getting ready on the morning of our wedding with my bridal party. I used to work at Bickleigh Castle as a waitress and always said I wanted to get married in the Great Hall there, it’s stunning! My best friend and maid-of-honour read a poem which was incredibly funny but also emotional – quite a few people cried! 32
