Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - July/August 2022 (Issue 38)

My mum collected jam jars which she decorated with tartan bows and filled with flowers from her garden including thistles and sunflowers. Pete, his groomsmen and his dad wore buttonholes containing a thistle and white flowers with a deconstructed iris in each one. I wore a gorgeous gown by the designer Stephanie Allin, I chose this style because it appeared easy to wear on the day. I adored the 3D flower detail and the tailored fit. We opted for one large cupcake with additional small ones made with cream icing in cream cases. We hand-made the tiered cup cake stand ourselves and added tartan ribbon around the edge in keeping wi th our theme. We made a card box using an old hamper filled with some leftover tartan material. We also made bunting from the tartan. We named the tables after musicals including Oliver - I accidentally named those that our family members were seated at after Les Miserables and Wicked! We gifted small bottles of gin as favours and Pete made us a set of LOVE letters to decorate the venue. “We hired aVW Campervan called Black Betty which was great for transporting our bridesmaids to the seafront. The owners of the venue helped by driving my elderly grandparents to the field where our ceremony was taking place.” - Harriet “We hired the popular magician Lewis Belcher who did a great job! We had a violinist perform during the wedding breakfast and for the evening reception, we had a live Ceilidh band singing.” - Harriet and Pete 37 REAL WEDDINGS
