R achel and Cheryl met at work when they were both managers in the same store. “We didn’t like each other at first so it wasn’t love at first sight! But when we got to know each other, it was clear that we were meant to be together,” they tell us. The couple became engaged on Christmas Eve in 2018. “Cheryl proposed when I was eight months pregnant with our first child,” Rachel tells us. “I wasn’t expecting it so I asked her if she was joking! She got down on one knee and we both burst into happy tears!” SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose Cornish wedding venue Landal Gwel an Mor nestled high above the fishing village of Portreath to host their wedding. They booked their Elopement Package which included the hire of their stunning yurt that’s licensed for ceremonies which they decorated with white willow inspired by their nine-month-old daughter and yellow roses to remember Rachel’s late mother. “We wanted an intimate event with just the two of us so it was perfect,” the couple tells us. “We also liked the fact that it was local and we loved the location and setting. We stayed on for three nights after the wedding in a lodge as part of the package and were allowed to bring our dog, Brody, along too which was great.” “I was blown away when I saw Cheryl for the first time.” - Rachel REAL WEDDINGS 37
