HAREFIELD BARN, CREDITON, DEVON This exclusive-use, family-run barn venue ‘with a view’ is situated on a farm in the heart of the South Devon countryside just ten minutes from Exeter. It has its own wildflower meadow, with cider apple orchards close by, and provides the most incredible far-flung views from most areas, inside and out. The interior of the barn offers plenty of natural daylight and flexible room layout options with tall windows designed to showcase the panoramic views. The bifold doors leading from the Main Hall and bar encourage guests to make the most of the extensive outdoor space which includes a paved terrace with seating provided complete with subtle external lighting and a large firepit. This terrace flows seamlessly down to the extensive lawns and adjacent cornfield, perfect for garden games and wedding portraits. The building has been designed with a clean, modern appearance but retains the traditional ambience with exposed beams and a cosy wood-burning stove. Ceremonies take place in a choice of seven licensed areas for between eight and 300 guests. These include the Main Hall that’s flooded with natural light, the bar that’s perfect for a cosy micro wedding, the chapel-like space with a vaulted ceiling known as The Tallet and the Clock House, an open-sided gazebo situated outside commanding a stunning location. There’s also the intimate Leveret Suite that’s decorated in the style of a glamorous boudoir and can hold a maximum of ten loved ones for the ceremony. The wedding breakfast usually takes place in the Main Hall for up to 150 loved ones seated at round tables and the outdoor space allocated adjacent to the building is ideal for the reception where food vans can park for a street food-style feast. A barbecue, hog roast and grazing tables also work well here and the team can help with recommending the best local wedding suppliers for couples to host their day their way at this extremely flexible venue. It’s available for exclusive hire over three days and was recently nominated in The Muddy Stilettos Awards 2021 as Best Wedding Venue. Originally the lambing shed, the barn has been beautifully restored keeping its original character. It’s fully glass-fronted with a hand-crafted wooden door opening out on to the patio which is the perfect spot for reception drinks and garden games, with the rolling Devonshire fields as a scenic backdrop, plus a sheep or two! Inside, the barn oozes rustic charm with elegant finishing touches. At night, the fairylights (that decorate the barn permanently) add a romantic ambience and the horse trailer that’s been converted into a cocktail bar provides the wow factor for guests. Giant illuminated LOVE letters, a sweetie cart and flower wall are also available and a rustic wagon wheel light takes centre-stage in the middle of the barn – an Insta-worthy photo opportunity! Ceremonies take place here or outside on the lawn with up to 150 loved ones seated on hay bales. The wedding breakfast is hosted inside along with the evening reception. The sliding doors leading on to the patio and lawn make it the ideal spot for long summer evenings and the venue also suits intimate weddings and elopements. Ceremony licence? They also like to support other local businesses. 18
