is to keep each couple well informed, to prevent disillusionment with unavoidable delays. “I actually approach this differently, preparing the images within two to three days for an in-person viewing over a picnic lunch with fizz, where my couple selects their favourite photographs for their bespoke album. This means I only re-touch the favoured 100-200, with their album being designed, printed and handed over in person within 12 weeks. We’re all different and offer different services, so it’s about choosing who’s right for you.” Caroline says: “I edit some while you have your wedding breakfast so you can see at least one showstopper before the end of your wedding day. I know how excited you’ll be to see them, so I don’t want you to have to wait. I’ll follow with a couple more teasers within a week. The full gallery will be ready within six weeks.” HOW DO WE KNOW IF A PHOTOGRAPHER IS THE ONE FOR US? Jessica says: “Connection is key. Look at a potential photographer’s portfolio to see if you love their style but also consider how they make you feel. A good wedding photographer will put you at ease and make the experience enjoyable. If you can imagine them blending into your day seamlessly, capturing the moments that matter most, you’ve likely found the right fit. “With my couples, I always have a chat before booking to make sure we’re the right match. I want you to feel completely comfortable with me and trust that I’ll capture your day in a way that feels true to you. My approach is very relaxed and documentary-led; I focus on real, genuine moments rather than stiff posing. If you love natural, emotive images and want a photographer who blends into the background while still being there to guide you when needed, I could be the perfect fit!” WE HATE HAVING OUR PHOTOS TAKEN! WHAT DO WE DO? Emma says: “I hear this all the time! In fact, I think about 80 per cent of couples who enquire with me say this in their initial email! “My approach is very friendly, relaxed and unobtrusive so my couples usually feel at ease with me quite quickly with many of them saying they forgot I was there! My aim on the day is to blend in and capture all the little moments that happen naturally, I’m not there to direct a photo shoot, so most of your photos will be candid shots of everyone just having a good time! The only times I will organise people for photos is for family groups (if you want them) and couple portraits. The couple portraits can be done in about 20 minutes so you’re not away from the party for too long. I try to make this as relaxed and fun as possible, we go for a walk and chat and hopefully have a bit of a laugh too! I find most couples feel a bit awkward at first but then get into it pretty quickly. Everyone says it wasn’t as bad as they thought or that they actually enjoyed it! Just concentrate on having fun and let your photographer do the rest!” Jessica says: “You’re not alone, most couples feel this way at first! The best wedding photographers have a relaxed, natural approach that makes the process feel effortless. Rather than stiff posing, it’s about guiding you into real, candid moments so you feel comfortable. I won’t ask you to do anything that feels forced or awkward, just little movements or interactions that bring out real, authentic moments. For example, I might ask you to walk together, share a quiet joke, or just focus on each other rather than the camera. I also give gentle direction, so you never feel unsure about what to do. “A pre-wedding shoot can also help, giving you a chance to get used to the camera in a fun, pressure-free way.” https://carolinewhitephotography.co.uk www.jessicabryony.com https://emmahillierphotography.com PHOTOGRAPHY 41
