very well,” Oliver says. A Cadillac and a Bentley delivered the couple to their venue in the morning, and they later travelled from Cathedral to Racquet Club in the Bentley following the “I dos.” The guests followed in a vintage double decker bus, which they very much enjoyed. The couple opted to have canapés served on arrival, followed by a seated, three-course wedding breakfast. They decided against an evening buffet as they were concerned about whether their daytime guests would want to eat having dined so decadently earlier in the day. So, they opted for small plates to go around in the evening. LOOKING THE PART Oliver wore a three-piece, forest green suit from The Wedding House in Liverpool, close to the city centre. He accessorised with a patterned burnt orange and navy tie, and pocket square. To differentiate themselves from the groom, the groomsmen wore grey three-piece suits with waistcoats to match the colour of the Oliver’s suit, along with solid burnt orange ties. Katy wore a long sleeved, fitted lace gown and accessorised with a cathedral-length veil pinned into her up do. Her two bridesmaids wore burnt orange dresses in different styles, both floor-length with a leg slit. “The girls loved not feeling too formal and being able to show off their leg tattoos!” Oliver says. TIME TO CELEBRATE “We knew we wanted live entertainment throughout the day and we love a good party, so also wanted a late bar and DJ,” Oliver explains. The couple found a supplier who offered the whole package, which made life easy. A guitarist performed during the wedding breakfast, before a saxophonist took over during the arrival drinks and evening. The DJ then kept the dancefloor full through to the end. “It was perfect having a mix of the three types of music and the saxophonist during the evening was a massive hit, as she came onto the dancefloor with the guests and got really involved,” Oliver shares. “Having the 1am bar and DJ was also great as we didn’t want the night to end!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “In the morning, I felt nervous and just couldn’t wait for the car to arrive and take me to the venue,” Oliver shares. “After Katy arrived though, I felt fantastic and had the most amazing day. Katy didn’t feel nervous at all. She arrived and looked absolutely amazing and left that night looking exactly the same way!” GETTING AWAY FROM IT ALL The couple booked a honeymoon package with Kuoni and headed off to Singapore and Thailand. They waited until January, since they understood the best time to visit was December to April, rather than October when they tied the knot. Straight after the big day, they enjoyed a two-night spa break at Carden Park. “It was lovely to have a few days, just us, after the wedding, with the excitement of the honeymoon still to come.” When they booked with Kuoni they were able to set up a honeymoon page where their guests could contribute to it as a wedding gift. The link was included in the daytime wedding invitations. GROOM’S TOP TIP “Wedding planning can be stressful, but try not to worry about it,” Oliver says. “No matter what you’re worrying about, everything will fall into place. My best tip for the day is to enjoy it. You only do it once in a lifetime!” 21 REAL WEDDINGS
