Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - February/March 2024 (Issue 99)

LOCAL NEWS 9 Five minutes with... NICHOLAS WYLDE, WYLDE JEWELLERS Please tell us a bit about yourself I opened my first Wylde Jewellers store 36 years ago with just 12 rings in the window. I’m still as passionate now as I was back then about being one of the leading jewellers in the UK – being at the forefront of the industry, offering unique jewellery and high quality service in a relaxed, friendly way. We carry one of the largest selections of wedding rings in the South West, offering all of the popular metals like gold, platinum, palladium, titanium, and incorporating other materials including graphite, carbon, wood and glass as well as precious stones, of course. We always aim to be competitive, as we know how expensive a wedding day can be. It’s important to us that our clients become clients for life, and we’re proud to be the jewellers of choice for many families where three generations have married with Wylde wedding rings. The modern wedding is all about creating a day that’s as personal as possible. How can this idea be extended to wedding jewellery? This is where we come into our element! Our designers work with you to design rings that’ll reflect not only your big day but your journey together. We can design rings to tell your story, take a design from the wedding dress or the invitations, look at the colour theme, or cleverly hide some bespoke personalisation in the design. We can also create other bespoke jewellery for your big day, such as a necklace that’ll perfectly match the details of the dress, or cufflinks that incorporate your colour palette. We can also design items to gift to bridesmaids and groomsmen, or for anybody in the wedding party in fact! A common concern is finding a wedding ring to suit a bride’s engagement ring. Do you have any advice? We frequently assist clients in understanding the choices they’ve made and what style will best complement their existing jewellery. Sometimes, we do need to slightly alter the engagement ring to accommodate the style of the chosen wedding ring but we do this sympathetically to the original design, ensuring the structure is secure. How can a couple bring elements of commonality into their rings if they don’t want them to match exactly? There are many ways that we can unify them, for example, you might choose a diamond-set wedding ring or one with specific design details, or even one with multicolour metals or gemstones. In each of these cases, we can take an element of this ring and incorporate it into your partner’s ring, perhaps with a subtle interpretation of the design or a single matching stone either on the outside or hidden on the inside of the band. We’re full of ideas as extravagant or as understated as you wish. We can also offer personal hand-engraving of everything from names and dates, to very personal choices like our previous commissions of frogs or the Eiffel Tower. I’ve even made a pair of rings that incorporated the decorative details of New York’s Grand Central Station. With an almost infinite range of designs and options, as well as many years of experience, we’re here to guide you. PICKED FOR PERFECTION Megan Lily Floral Design has recently introduced its new Cherry Picked Wedding Flower Service. Perfect for small and intimate nuptials, the service involves a collection of ready-designed wedding flowers available to collect from the workshop in Felton. So, if you know you won’t need a full wedding flower package but you still want exceptional quality, this is ideal. The collections, although ready-designed, still feel personal and are available to order online as a simple, cost effective way to organise your florals. With a minimum spend of £350, there are two beautiful colour palettes to choose from. Megan will select the best quality seasonal blooms for your big day and put them together in her soft and delicate signature style.
