Having recently moved all of its catering in-house, all catering from the night-before supper to the wedding breakfast and evening food is now provided via the expert team at The Pennard Kitchen. The new head chef, Mike Dart and catering director Denise Bottrill together bring more than two decades of experience in catering weddings at all budget levels. The new Pennard Kitchen menus have been designed to include the freshest local and seasonal ingredients, to create delicious and imaginative food. All are sourced locally from Somerset suppliers where possible, such as dairy products collected from surrounding farms and meat from a locally-supplied farm shop. As part of this initiative the venue has also recently introduced The Pennard Pizza Trailer, a converted horse box providing artisan, wood-fired pizzas, which are proving perfect for evening snacks and a lovely addition to the grounds in front of the 18C Coach House. Taking 80 to 90 per cent of all its fruit, veg and herbs from its Victorian walled garden and orchard, as well as produce sourced and foraged locally, The Ethicurean stays true to its ethos of British seasonality and cultivation. Everything is made in-house, even the crockery is made by local potters! Head chef Mark, who you might have seen earlier in the year representing Scotland on The Great British Menu says, “British locality and seasonality is so important to me. In all honesty, I don’t know how else to cook.” From June, The Ethicurean will be starting a programme of Wednesday Suppers. You’ll have the opportunity to join the team for a relaxed evening celebrating the finest ingredients from the garden and beyond. The menu comprises three courses and a choice of omnivore and vegetarian menus are offered when booking. Priced at £55, all guests for the evening arrive at 6.30pm with supper served from 7pm.
