Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - December 2022 /January 2023 (Issue 92)

Demmi and Grant were born in the same hospital, on the same day, “So technically we could have met at birth,” Demmi tells us. Their families lived in the same small village and they went to the same primary school, they even have a photo of them together at six years old. But then, Demmi went away to boarding school and Grant went to a local school and they didn’t meet again until they were 15. Demmi got a job in the local shop and Grant would meet her to walk her home at the end of her shift. When they were 16 he asked her to be his girlfriend and they’ve been together ever since. Now, they’ve purchased a house in the village they grew up in – “It’s come full circle,” Demmi says. Grant proposed in the Dominican Republic on the beach, in a decorated hut. He only waited until the second day of the holiday as he’d had to hide the ring and was constantly worried Demmi would find it. He asked her dad for her hand in marriage, so they immediately FaceTimed and the bride-to-be spent the rest of the holiday on cloud nine. They chose Old Bridge as the all-important venue for their big day and set the date for 2nd July, 2022. Demmi explains, “Old Bridge is a family-run venue, they’re so relaxed and let you plan the day you want. You can pop in whenever you want, ask all the questions you need to and they really open up their home and family to you, not only for the day, but in the lead up too.
